POSNA CLINIC FOR CATS SUN, APRIL 7TH IN CHEWELAH!

The amazing Dr Laura and her crew, along with our wonderful volunteers, is onboard for another BIG clinic in Chewelah. Yay!!! Kitten season is in full swing, which means there's no time to lose getting your cats spayed/neutered!
CATS ONLY FOR THIS CLINIC!
The cost of either a spay or neuter is $45. Vaccinations for Rabies or the 3-way upper respiratory and distemper shots are $10 each. We will always work with you on payment and may have some financial help available. YOU MUST GET BOOKED IN TO PARTICIPATE! TO GET BOOKED IN PLEASE CALL US AT (509)671-1427.
BE SURE TO GIVE US:

KITTY BIOLOGY 101:
The first kittens of the year have already been born. The gestation period is about 2 months for cats, so there's no time to lose getting your kitty altered. Cats can go into their first heat, AND BECOME PREGNANT, at just 5 months old. No need to wait until they come out of heat, which is very difficult to do, in any case, with their non-stop cycles. Once they come into heat, they will continue to cycle until they're either spayed, or become pregnant. Any question about which option is preferable? Unlike dogs, who go into heat twice a year, cats can have 3-4 litters yearly. Should they become pregnant, they can become pregnant AGAIN, while they're still nursing their first litter. It doesn't take a mathematician to see that just one unspayed cat can produce WAY more kittens than their owners can find good homes for. All of us in rescue are painfully aware that there are already far more great kitties waiting for their forever homes than families who can take good care of them.
If you've missed the bus and already have kittens, they can be spayed/neutered when they weigh at least 2 pounds. Since kittens gain weight at an average of a pound per month, they're usually up to weight at 8-10 weeks old. For their mom to be spayed, the kittens have to be eating solid food and be able to be away from her for the day.
DON'T DELAY, SPOTS FILL UP FAST!

Angel Paws has received a lot of calls/messages with the information that follows. I just wanted to try to clarify, so there is no confusion.

Angel Paws is not a shelter or a veterinarian clinic. We help with a one time emergency situation in "SPECIFIC" zip codes. We are unable to help anyone outside these zip codes. We apologize, but we are a small non profit with limited funding and have rules/guidelines to follow.

We "DO" accept donations.

We do not rehome pets. There are specific sites on FB and craigslist. Please use caution when rehoming pets. Ask for decent rehoming fees for the safety of the animal. There are dog fighting rings that use pets as bait.

We try to post any low cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, that are put on by others. We do not run these clinics, nor do we have anything to do with them. Angel Paws is NOT affiliated with them.

Cold extreme cold weather conditions on the way. Make sure all of your outdoor critters are caref for properly.

Though we are still expecting snow across portions of the Inland Northwest today, perhaps the even more drastic change will be plummeting temperatures for tonight into the weekend. Here is the wind chill forecast for Friday morning around the typical work/school commute time. Yep, that's pretty brisk!

WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE? POSNA NEEDS YOU!

POSNA has many very fulfilling volunteer opportunities available, many of which can be done from the comfort of your own home, whenever it's convenient for you. Some of the things you can do from home to organize our frequently held spay/neuter clinics include: help booking our clinics, doing reminder and follow up calls and contacting people when it's time to pick up their animals after a clinic. More at home jobs include posting our adoptable pets on our website and keeping it up to date on events, etc.
Want to get out there and do hands on work with animals? We always need help cleaning our shelter and kitty cuddlers to spend quality time with our shelter cats. Fosters for kittens, nursing moms, bottle babies and cats needing socializing are always needed as well. We are located about 30 mile north of the Y in Spokane and 10 miles south of Newport, off Hwy 2. Because we're rural, we don't get the foot traffic shelters in towns experience. The more people our cats are exposed to and the more quality time they receive, the more adoptable they are and the sooner they can head off to their happy homes. We also need help transporting animals and supplies as well as picking up donated items.
People are constantly calling us for help, but only a tiny fraction of people who contact us, maybe one in a hundred, step up to the plate to help with our spay/neuter clinics and to care for our rescued cats. We are especially short handed right now with volunteers and fosters having to step away due to health and other unexpected issues that we all experience in life. If you're that one in a hundred, please call us at (509)671-1427!
Have more money than time? The only way we're able to keep the doors open is through the kindness and generosity of our friends. Donations can be made on our website by using the link below and clicking on the 'Donate' button.
Donations can also be mailed to:
