Meet Marishka! 💕🐾

This 11-month-old spayed female is one of our “Pets of the Week” at Carteret County Humane Society! With a special $25 adoption fee through Saturday at 4 PM, she’s ready for her forever home.

Marishka is playful, affectionate, and social! She loves laser pointers, catnip, and belly rubs. She gets along with other cats and even dogs, making her a great fit for a multi-pet home.

Meet Ozzy ~ a 2-year-old sweetheart waiting for his forever home at Carteret County Humane Society. He has a special adoption fee of $25 this week, so there’s no better time to meet him!

Ozzy is the perfect blend of playful, adorable and snuggly ; he LOVES his toys stuffed and squeaky, oh … and a cozy bed to curl up in after a fun-filled day. He walks beautifully on a leash and considers himself a certified lap dog 🥰.

At the shelter, Ozzy seems to be scared of cats, however ~ he can be tested to see if he’s a good match for a home with feline friends. As for other dogs, he hasn’t shown any reactivity while coming and going from his kennel.

Ozzy came to us as a stray so we don’t know much about his history. He is ready to leave shelter life behind for a family to love. ♥️ He’s current on shots and full of love, loyalty, and the best goofy antics to keep you smiling every day.

RUFIO ♥️

A huge thank you to Crystal Coast Dog for capturing Rufio’s sweet spirit and to Carolina Home and Garden for your warm hospitality ~ always!

Rufio is just under 2 years old and has had a tough journey. He came to us as a stray with a dislocated hip, underwent surgery, and worked through weeks of rehabilitation. Now, he’s ready to leave shelter life behind (it stresses him out) and find a loving home where he can truly thrive.

This sweet, affectionate boy dreams of companionship and warm, cozy blankets. A true Velcro dog, Rufio simply wants to be by your side, showering you with love and unwavering loyalty. He’s happiest snuggled up next to you and enjoys car rides, where he curls up on his blanket and drifts off to sleep. If you’re searching for a devoted best friend, Rufio is waiting to meet you!

He is current on shots and neutered.

Thunder has an important announcement! We hope you’re having fun in the snow and staying warm and cozy! ❄️ For the safety of our staff and visitors, we’ll be closed again today. We plan to reopen tomorrow during our regular hours.

❄️ 🐾 It’s a SNOW DAY at Carteret County Humane Society! Due to the weather, we are closed to the public today.

A few dedicated staff members & volunteers made it in safely to care for the animals, and we’re sharing some fun snow-filled moments with our furry friends! Stay tuned as we add more photos to our snow album throughout the day.

Oscar is one of our “Pets of the Week” at Carteret County Humane Society, and his adoption fee is just $25 until Saturday at 4 PM!

At 4 years old, Oscar is a gentle and reserved kitty with a heart full of love just waiting to bloom. While he may take some time to warm up, his true affectionate nature shines with patience and kindness.

Meet Ozzy – One of Our “Pets of the Week” at Carteret County Humane Society. His adoption fee is $25 until Saturday at 4pm.

If you are looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate pup … look no further! Ozzy is a sweet & friendly 2-year-old boy with a curious spirit ~ always ready to explore his surroundings and sniff out new adventures. His goofy antics and playful nature are sure to keep you smiling, whether he’s chasing a squeaky toy, carrying around his favorite stuffed animal, or showing off his love for a game of fetch.

But Ozzy isn’t all energy ~ he’s also a cuddle expert. He truly believes he’s a lap dog and will climb right up for some love, sharing plenty of kisses along the way. ♥️ He LOVES being pampered too ~ just look at him getting tucked in for the night by one of his favorite staff employees, Raven!

Meet Marishka! 💕🐾

This 11-month-old, spayed female is one of our “Pets of the Week” at Carteret County Humane Society. With a special adoption fee of just $25 through Saturday at 4 PM, she’s ready to find her forever family!

Marishka is young, playful, and full of life! She loves chasing laser pointers, rolling around in catnip, and playing with toys. She’s also incredibly sweet and affectionate ~ you’ll often find her purring away as she soaks up head scratches and belly rubs.

This sociable girl gets along well with other cats and even dogs, making her a great fit for a multi-pet household. Marishka is easy to care for and isn’t picky about food; all she truly needs is love and affection.

❄️ Keep Your Pets Warm and Safe This Week! ❄️

With frigid temperatures expected today, tomorrow, and throughout the week, it’s important to take extra precautions to keep your furry friends safe and warm. Cold weather can be dangerous for pets, so here are some tips to ensure their comfort and safety:

🐾 Bring Pets Inside: Whenever possible, bring your pets indoors to keep them out of the cold. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them!

🐾 Use Straw or Cedar Shavings : For outdoor animals, provide plenty of clean, dry straw or cedar shavings to help insulate their shelter and keep them warm. Avoid using blankets outside ~ they can freeze and retain moisture.

🐾 Shelter Matters: Ensure outdoor shelters are sturdy, weatherproof, and insulated. Keep the shelter off the ground and facing away from the wind. Heat lamps or heating pads on low can help too.

🐾 Fresh Water: Prevent water bowls from freezing by checking them often or using heated bowls. Hydration is just as important in winter as it is in summer!

🐾 Watch for Warning Signs: Shivering, lethargy, or unusual behavior can indicate your pet is too cold. Bring them inside immediately if you notice these signs.

Your pets depend on you to keep them safe ~ let’s make sure they stay warm and cozy during this cold snap!
