Brady was returned by no fault of his own and he quickly found his home, his true home. So sometimes things work out for the best. His name is Wall-E and has already learned outside and potty training, come in and sit. Best part is he gets to sleep with his mama 💕. Thanks for this great pupdate.

After taking in a severe neglect case the other day, we r running very low on Purina One chicken and rice formula. If anyone is able and willing to help us help them it would be greatly appreciated.
Kennel tech is a very demanding job, especially in hot or cold temperatures. It requires a dedicated person who can handle the job. Our pups and dogs are needing a friendly, hard working employee to tend to them. This is a part time position, with extra hours if wanted.

Anywhere else she would have been put down but not at SMHS. She blossomed into the most beautiful girl and she is living a dream life with her amazing adopter Jessy. NC hikes and being pampered, we are pretty certain that she is living a better life than her owner who dumped her in her condition.

Smoky Mountain Humane Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) No-Kill Animal Rescue in Newport, TN. We have wonderful cats, kittens, dogs and puppies for adoption; We offer low-cost spay/neuter and vaccinations and microchipping. An all-volunteer Board of Directors - with a 2022 Platinum Seal Guide Star
We received many concerning calls about these poor animals living in squalor, no food or water and very emaciated.
Thank you Cocke County Sheriff Office for sending your deputy there to sadly confirm what we heard. We won’t show most of the pictures but we are angry at the humans who did this to them, grateful for the many calls we received and relieved that we can hopefully heal them. We are cautiously optimistic that we can help 2 of the 3.
Prayers for these innocent babies and prayers to our amazing staff and volunteers who have to deal with such cases.
So beware, we have a sheriff who cares about animals and he will not hesitate to enforce the laws to protect animals in Cocke county.

Smoky Mountain Rainbow Bridge and Gardens will be opening Sept 14. Please like and follow the Rainbow Bridge page for updates!
Several people have asked why we are building the Smoky Mountain Rainbow Bridge and Gardens. The most important reason is to give people who have lost a beloved pet a place to grieve with no judgment.
Some do not understand that to many, losing a pet is losing a family member, a friend, a child. Here you will be able to place a collar or tags on the Rainbow Bridge in remembrance of your beloved fur baby. You can stroll our pet themed gardens, listen to the chimes and maybe talk to others that are feeling the same way that you do.
Although the grief is real, the peace that you get from visiting is real, too.
We also hope that the Rainbow Bridge and Gardens will bring awareness to the Smoky Mountain Humane Society and the plight of many animals….abuse, abandonment and fear.
We will be opening soon and look forward to seeing you at the Smoky Mountain Rainbow Bridge and Gardens.

The owner came by today to pick up the body of his beautiful German shepherd that was hit by a car and died. He said he broke loose and was only gone an hour or so but that’s all it took.
We want to thank the kind people who found Cole and brought him to us. The owner was grateful.

She came to us with her litter of kittens but she was also pregnant with her next litter 🙄 so she had 5 but only 3 survived this far. They look amazing and Oreo is a wonderful Mama and this will be her LAST litter!

UPDATE UPDATE We now know who this person and spoke with a deputy. He said he would cite her into court. It’s illegal to dump animals! We are closed with minimal staff that cleans the kennels. This person chose to put a black cat in a black bag then placed it on hot black top and left. We didn’t know it was there until our staff was ready to walk the canines. The cat was traumatized and over heated but is now sitting in air conditioning trying to decompress. We notified the Cocke County Sheriff Office
This is Roxy, her microchip says that she is nine years old from the Jefferson city area. She’s such a good girl, and look what she can do in this video. If anyone knows her owner, can you please contact them and let them know that we have her, so she doesn’t have to be in a shelter since she’s clearly an inside pet.
Fergus has come a long way from being on deaths door. We are so thankful to Denise & Ryan for fostering and giving Fergus the TLC needed to make it this far. He is a smart boy and has learned to sit and shake along with stay and come and he is potty trained too! He was 26lbs when he arrived and today he weighed 47.2 lbs! Doesn’t he look amazing 💕
Update on Fergus 🐾💕 5 days after rescue, Fergus weighed in 30.8 lbs! He gained 4.8 lbs !!!
