Is your dog current on their lepto vaccine? We recommend lepto vaccine for all our canine patients. Lepto is a disease caused by leptospira bacteria commonly found in water or soil. It is carried by rodents or wildlife (raccoons, opossums, for example) that roam. Dogs are often exposed by wildlife urinating in backyards, parks, and wooded areas. Some symptoms of lepto disease include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, abdominal pain, or stiffness and muscle pain. Lepto can be fatal even with treatment. Give us a call for more information.
