Last call for Frankie. π₯Ί Looking for ideally a female to gently welcome her into a new home.
Alright, everyone. Meet Frankie!! She is looking for a home!!!
Frankie's mom is moving out west in a few months and unfortunately has decided that she cannot logistically take Frankie with her. π So Frankie possibly needs a new home! She is 10 years old, spayed, UTD on shots (as far as I know) and is diabetic. She takes 2 units of insulin twice a day and is totally fine whenever I've given the injection to her. Her mom got her when she was approximately 4 years old and has never had any other pets during the last 6 years, so I don't know how Frankie would be with other cats (or dogs) in the house. Frankie is very good at making biscuits and loves to purr and loves attention and affection. However, she does have a pet limit. Very rarely have I ever reached that pet limit (maybe I have once? π€), but she does have one. She lets you know she's reached her pet limit by lifting up her paw as a warning. Keep petting her and she'll give you a little bappity bap. But again, her pet limit is pretty high and I've never personally experienced her bappity baps. Frankie would do well with a homebody or perhaps someone that works from home, since she does thrive with company around.
Things to consider before adopting Frankie: 1. She has diabetes. So you'll need to be home to give her insulin twice a day. 2. She DOES NOT like small crates. She cannot be transported in a regular-sized cat carrier. She is instead transported in a medium-sized soft dog crate. She has to be slightly bribed to get in, but she manages okay. 3. She also has some kind of undiagnosed underlying condition that seems to be controlled with steroids. Vet isn't sure what that condition is - but symptoms are similar to allergies, with respiratory wheezing, occasional sores and also occasional vomiting. When she's been on steroids, the symptoms have been more or less masked. However, her owner hasn't had much success with pilling Frankie, so she hasn't been treated for these random occasional possibly related symptoms. 4. Frankie's mom is willing to pay for Frankie's insulin for 6 months if she finds a new home.
Frankie's mom did reach out to three local rescues that I suggested to her. Based on Frankie's questionable health issues, two of them have suggested humane euthanasia and won't take her. The third rescue is still deciding. So before she's put to sleep, I'm reaching out to the Facebook ether to see if anyone would be willing to give this sweet girl a home. She's located in Waltham, MA. β€οΈ
