Adopt a Family 2023

This year, Sit.Stay. has two families that could use some extra help to make the holidays bright.

Our first family is a single mom with a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. The mom is a baker and is looking to start a business to help with finances and is requesting a commercial mixer. If anyone is interested in pitching in for this item, we can pool the money and we will find a place to purchase it.

Our second family consists of two boys 13 and 19 who are living with their 80 year old grandparents who are battling health issues as well as financial issues. The families refrigerator is failing and they don’t have the money to repair it. The grandfather would like Home Depot gift cards to put towards a new refrigerator. The two boys are requesting Amazon gift cards for clothes and Best Buy gift cards for electronics for school.

It was an honor to be asked to participate as a community helper in this years Shop with a Cop program. Over 330 kids facing various hardship situations were partnered with local law enforcement to shop for the holidays at Target. Thank you to everyone who makes this event such a success and so memorable for all involved.
This Sunday, Sit.Stay. Is sponsoring a Santa Brunch at the American Legion and accepting donations for Shop with a Cop. We will have officers there from various townships representing this fantastic program. If you are able to join us for a fantastic Joseph Garvey brunch, we look forward to seeing you. If you aren’t able to come for brunch but want to support Shop with a Cop, please reach out and we will be happy to get your donation to the right place!

Halloween 🎃 is over and just like that, the holidays have arrived! At Sit.Stay., we love celebrating the holidays and we love working with our Sit.Stay. family to help our community.

This year, we are going BIG and partnering with our local police 👮🏼 departments to raise money for Shop with a Cop. This program is geared toward Council Rock School District Children at the elementary and middle school levels. The children are faced with life challenges such as a parent losing a job, homelessness, military deployment, economic shortcomings, and other hardships. Each child is partnered with a police officer and given a gift card to shop.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child for Shop with a Cop, please make checks payable to “Upper Makefield Township Police Assoc.” and write SWAC in the subject line and bring your donation to Sit.Stay.

This year, we are also excited to announce that, along with other local small businesses we have invited Santa to Newtown and he’s arriving on a fire truck!!! On December 17, Santa will be joining us at the American Legion in Newtown. Joe Garvey will be cooking up an incredible brunch and you can meet and get pictures with Santa.

⚾️As you know, Sit.Stay. is a big supporter of our first responders. When your 8 year old is signed up for travel baseball, you also become a big supporter of baseball. To tie all the worlds together, on May 20 at Lookout Park, UM baseball is hosting a Field Day Fundraiser and a baseball game between the Upper Makefield Township Police Department and the Upper Makefield Fire Company.

We are looking for sponsors! If you have a business or just want to support, it’s a great, inexpensive advertising opportunity that benefits our first responders and youth sports.

⚠️If you live in Woods of Saxony you are also able to access the driveway from there.

We don’t have anything exciting to report, which depending on your perspective could be a good thing.. 😉 So, we will take this opportunity to remind everyone of the road closures that will be happening this week and throughout the month. We hope this helps you with traversing the area. Again, this is always subject to change without notice, but we will always try to give you a heads up on what’s happening. Night shift is in and we got you covered.. 👍

Taylorsville Road:

PennDOT will be working from the Upper Makefield Fire Station toward River Road Sept. 1 until 4 p.m. The Taylorsville Road rolling detour will continue weekdays through September 12 from 7 a.m. -4 p.m.

Pineville Road:

Closed between Thompson Mill & Eagle Road for pipe replacements. This project will occur weekdays through September 7 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road):

A moving road closure is scheduled to occur between Sycamore Street and Wrightstown Road in Newtown, Upper Makefield, and Lower Makefield townships, on Wednesday, September 7, through Friday, September 23, weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for base repair. Please refer to below map.

We are under a heat advisory again today. If you are planning to bring your dog to day care, please plan to pickup early as temperatures will be rising throughout the day.

Day care is canceled for tomorrow.

Just a reminder, we do cancel day care for the safety of the dogs. Please educate yourself on the signs of heat stroke and do not take your dog for a long walk, or subject your dog to long periods of time outdoors.

Soon, the sun will be shining, the flowers will be blooming, the birds will be chirping and you will be taking your dog on relaxing, leisurely walks through the park. 🤔 Wait, your dog walks you through the park? Drags you through the park? Why not start the warmer months off right by calling our trainer, Harry Vitello and have him help you with your dogs difficult behaviors.

Sunday reality!

Is your dog "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?" Are you looking to hone this skill and others, exercise your dog and enjoy a new activity with your 4 legged bestie? We will be starting agility classes in the spring! We will announce the start date on Facebook and have a monthly sign up schedule. We are excited to start this new program But I promise that your dog will not be expected to jump as high as Russell here. He's part kangaroo!

Even when it's frigid out, a dog can still warm your heart.

Our next group training class is this Sunday the 17 at 3:30.
