Adoptable Pacino working on his recall this afternoon! This boy loves to learn! He is a 1.5 year old medium sized mixed breed male. Pacino is good with other dogs but can be rambunctious at times, so a dog that is used to that would get along great with him. He would love a home for the holiday season coming up! He is neutered, microchipped, and rabies vaccinated. (203)426-6900

Congratulations to our Milo boy as he has found himself a wonderful home with Maria and her brother Edmilson❤️

INJURED CAT SEEN AT 366 York St near Morys in New Haven . If found or you know who the owners are please call 203-868-9847

We receive many phone calls about sick or injured cats in different communities and we typically are asked what should we do .

Animal control in each individual community is responsible for picking up sick or injured domestic animals ( which includes cats ) . But what if they have an owner ? Animal Control is still responsible for locating the owner to ensure the animal is being treated for illnesses or injuries and then make a determination if the animal should be given back to the owner or what should happen next .

Some people have asked what happens if there is no animal control or animal shelter in that specific community ? You would want to locate a rescue or organization that can help with the sick or injured animal - whether they need help trapping or transporting or doing a go fund me … you as the person who found the animal may need to assist

Sometimes in smaller communities , you may find there are not a lot of resources . You could contact the Department of Agriculture ( Animal Control Division. ) to notify them of the sick or injured domestic animal and find out what their suggestion might be .

And as we get closer to Halloween , we really try to stress to people the importance of keeping animals inside . We understand that some people want indoor outdoor cats but it is very dangerous to the cat especially around Halloween .

Our furry companions rely on us for shelter , safety , veterinary care , food , water , comfort and guidance . Please be thoughtful when bringing in that adorable kitten, puppy of bunny into your home . Vet care can cost a lot of money and unfortunately sometimes unexpected things happen with our animals and we as the people who have taken them into our homes and made ourselves responsible for them are the ones who have to ultimatelyprovide them with everything they need .

Orange male cat, intact, no microchip. Hit by car on Riverside Rd near Shortts Farm. He unfortunately had to be euthanized due to excessive brain swelling.

We understand that pets can accidentally get out, but please do your best to keep your pets contained in your home and on your property, especially if you live on or near a busy road. With the unfortunate fact that many people do not pay attention to the road (and it’s also difficult to stop suddenly on some of our roads), too many animals lose their lives or get severely injured. Also, if you hit an animal, stop and call our dispatch center so they can contact an officer to help (203)426-5841. This poor cat was left suffering on the side of the road for who knows how long until a kind passerby stopped and called for help.
