Today was Day 2 of Tech & Team Appreciation Spirit Week! Today we represented our favorite animals.

What is a Veterinary Technician...it is someone full of compassion for their patients, someone who is seemingly a jack of all trades (medically speaking) they are
🐾Phlebotomists
🐾Dental Hygienists
🐾Laboratory Technicians
🐾Radiology Technicians
🐾Nurse Anesthetist
🐾Surgical Nurses
🐾Dieticians
🐾ICU Nurses
🐾Educators
🐾 And they hold their patients paw during those tough times and are a supporting shoulder for pet parents just when they need it.
🐾And so much more..

To those who work in this field, no matter the hospital, we Thank You!! It truly is a true work of the heart!

So last Friday we closed early so that we could spend some time team building and bonding... What does that look like, some may ask?? It looks like the 2nd Annual Veterinary Team Olympics!!!

Teamwork, Laughter and Bonding was the theme for the afternoon! We competed in challenges such as the Tail Tuck Relay, Cat Got Your Tongue Challenge, a Three Legged Dog Race, Peter Cottontail Relay, Tapeworm Search, F***l Package Prep (No hands 🤣), a friendly game of Operation(fat finger style) and last but certainly not least was the Testicle Toss (obviously water 🎈)!! Here is a little glimpse into the events of the day!

This afternoon we gathered the entire team together from both of our offices, had lunch together and then had the most fun bonding, team building and most importantly, laughing with each other as we celebrated the 2nd Annual Olympics...Veterinary Style that is!!

Our teams competed in a Tail Tuck Relay, A Three Legged Dog Race, a Cottontail Relay, P**p Packaging Race (no hands LOL), Cat Got Your Tongue Competition, Find the Tapeworms in a Slimy Sample, and last but certainly not least The Testicle Toss (water 🎈 not real ones, obviously LOL!!) Sometimes as a team you need to step outside of the 4 walls you work in every day and have a little fun!

Our office will close at Noon today, Friday, September 13th so that our team can participate in a team building activity.

Building and strengthening our bond as a team, learning problem solving and continuially learning how to work as one improves how we work together every single day. That teamwork and bond helps us by, strengthening and improving how we work together and only imptoves what we do for our patients and their owners!

Many of you know Olivia, she has been a technician with us for a few years now, the last 2 years she has only been with us for the summer months...Why, you may ask...She has been attending Vet School and is now entering her third year at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia!

Tomorrow morning is her white coat ceremony. This special occasion represents the transition from in class learning to clinical rotations, where she will be working in the hospital setting with real patients. We are so proud of her and are so glad that she has allowed us to be a small part of her magnificent journey! Congratulations Olivia, we look forward to having you back with us here in a few short weeks being one of your first rotation destinations!! We cannot say it loud enough...WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU OLIVIA!!!

"You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” – Dr. Seuss

In veterinary medicine there is always something new to learn... the newest procedures, the newest medicines...

Last week our four surgery technicians, Erika, Lisa, Tiffany & Carina attended the Keystone Veterinary Conference in Hershey to do just that, To Learn and further their knowledge of veterinary dentistry.

Some days are tougher than most...Today was one of those days. If you were one of the clients at the office today we say, Thank You, Thank You for your patience and your kindness as we navigated through some difficult cases and some even tougher goodbyes... Helping clients come to that very difficult decision, albeit the most loving, compassionate and selfless decision, is never easy and knowing that those other clients who are waiting patiently their turn for their time with the doctor while we spend time with those families definitely reminds us just how awesome our clients truly are!! Thank you again for your patience today, it means more than you will ever know!!

We will be closing at 1pm today, Wednesday, July 24th. We will reopen 8am Thursday morning.

Dr. Hasco we want to pause and say how much we all appreciate all that you do for your clients, for your patients and for your team! 25 Years seems to have flown by!!! Life really is about what you do and how you leave your footprint on the world and we all agree, our world is much better because of those footprints!!
I was lucky enough to have worked with Dr. Hasco these last 25 years, many of them working beside him as his surgery tech...I will never forget his very first surgery day...mind you, I did not really know him but for a couple weeks at that point.
That first surgery day I had looked down and realized maybe his nerves had played a part that morning as he prepared for his first surgery day, but again, not knowing him very well at that point I didn't want to upset him so I simply asked "Were you nervous this morning?".
To which his reply was a simple "No"...
Again I asked "Are you sure you weren't nervous?".
At that point he asked me why I asked to which I simply replied..."Because you are wearing 2 different sneakers..."

To this day, just like that young, nervous, new veterinaraian Dr. Hasco still strives to do the very best for each and every one of his patients and someday he will leave VERY BIG Shoes to fill but for now we will just continue to celebrate the Awesome Veterinarian that he continues to be Every Single Day!! And maybe sometimes share a smile or two about those funny old memories. Happy 25 Years Dr. Hasco!!

We would like to introduce you all to Dr. Kelli Mills as she joins our team as a new Associate Veterinarian!!

Dr. Mills is a 2024 graduate of Midwestern University School of Veterinary Medicine in Arizona. Originally from Washington County, Maryland, Dr. Mills received her Bachelor's of Science Degree from Wilson College, Chamberburg in 2020.

When asked what inspired her to become a veterinarian her response is quick... Rocky! As a young girl she had to watch her beloved Rocky, her family's Boxer, become very sick, very suddenly and it was in that moment that she made the decision that she was going to be a Veterinarian and do all that she could to help other pets and their owners. Fast forward several years and she has done just that!

In her free time Dr. Mills enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends, especially her fiance who she plans to Wed in September!

We hope you all love her as much as we do. We know she is very much looking forward to getting to meet and work with our amazing patients and their awesome owners!!

Welcome to our team Dr. Mills!

Our Celebration Continues, Cheers to 25 Years!!!

25 years ago Dr. Hasco joined the Veterinary Practice in his little hometown of Newville as an Associate Veterinarian...Three (younger than they are now 😘) Technicians were lucky enough to get to know and work with him during his first few weeks, months and years. Boy the stories we all could tell...

Fast forward 25 years with a few little changes...He now owns that same practice he started at all those years ago, which now operates as 2 locations (Holly Pike Animal Hospital), he still gets to work every day with those same three technicians (Mindy, Lisa & Letha). These days we couldn't imagine having only 3 technicians, now we are lucky enough to have 15 between our two hospitals instead of just the original 3!

Congratulations again Dr. Hasco! Thanks for being an amazing Veterinarian, an amazing Boss and just an overall pretty spectacular You!!!

Shouting from the Rooftops...Happy 25th Anniversary Dr. Hasco!!

🐾25 years ago this month, a young, fresh out of school, Ohio State Veterinary School graduate returned to the town he grew up in to start a career caring for and helping pets as a Veterinarian!!

🐾Fast Forward 25 years and he is still here, still doing what he loves! Although some things have changed over the years (ok so he has a little less hair 😉), one thing that has not changed is his compassion and care that he provides to every single one of his patients and their owners! We will be celebrating ALL Month long, so if you happen to see him out and about, take a moment and Congratulate him...25 years is a Major Milestone!!

And nope, he is not happy that I snapped a photo of him LOL🤣!
