We would like to introduce you all to Dr. Kelli Mills as she joins our team as a new Associate Veterinarian!!

Dr. Mills is a 2024 graduate of Midwestern University School of Veterinary Medicine in Arizona. Originally from Washington County, Maryland, Dr. Mills received her Bachelor's of Science Degree from Wilson College, Chamberburg in 2020.

When asked what inspired her to become a veterinarian her response is quick... Rocky! As a young girl she had to watch her beloved Rocky, her family's Boxer, become very sick, very suddenly and it was in that moment that she made the decision that she was going to be a Veterinarian and do all that she could to help other pets and their owners. Fast forward several years and she has done just that!

In her free time Dr. Mills enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends, especially her fiance who she plans to Wed in September!

We hope you all love her as much as we do. We know she is very much looking forward to getting to meet and work with our amazing patients and their awesome owners!!

Our Celebration Continues, Cheers to 25 Years!!!

25 years ago Dr. Hasco joined the Veterinary Practice in his little hometown of Newville as an Associate Veterinarian...Three (younger than they are now 😘) Technicians were lucky enough to get to know and work with him during his first few weeks, months and years. Boy the stories we all could tell...

Fast forward 25 years with a few little changes...He now owns that same practice he started at all those years ago, which now operates as 2 locations (Holly Pike Animal Hospital), he still gets to work every day with those same three technicians (Mindy, Lisa & Letha). These days we couldn't imagine having only 3 technicians, now we are lucky enough to have 15 between our two hospitals instead of just the original 3!

Congratulations again Dr. Hasco! Thanks for being an amazing Veterinarian, an amazing Boss and just an overall pretty spectacular You!!!

Shouting from the Rooftops...Happy 25th Anniversary Dr. Hasco!!

🐾25 years ago this month, a young, fresh out of school, Ohio State Veterinary School graduate returned to the town he grew up in to start a career caring for and helping pets as a Veterinarian!!

🐾Fast Forward 25 years and he is still here, still doing what he loves! Although some things have changed over the years (ok so he has a little less hair 😉), one thing that has not changed is his compassion and care that he provides to every single one of his patients and their owners! We will be celebrating ALL Month long, so if you happen to see him out and about, take a moment and Congratulate him...25 years is a Major Milestone!!

And nope, he is not happy that I snapped a photo of him LOL🤣!

"We do this for the love of animals. Or at least that's how it starts. A glimmer of something bigger than ourselves. The thought that we can make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. We want to save lives, heal the sick and help ease the passing of those we can’t save..."

These words are not our own but we feel them to the depths of our very being... We do what we do because we love animals, we do what we do because we want to make our patients lives the best that they can be, we do what we do because we care!

Veterinary Care is not like it was 30 years ago, it is not like it was 15 years ago and it is not even like it was just 4 short years ago prior to Covid. Gone are the days of calling in to schedule your pets wellness exam with vaccines for the same week...as much as we hate to do it those appointments are now scheduling out sometimes up to 2 to 3 months. Every day our schedule is a challenge, every day we try to do what we can to help every patient that needs our help. We try to work those established clients who call in with sick patients into our daily schedules, sometimes that means double and even triple booking patient appointments which in turn equals Longer Than Expected (or wanted) Wait Times. Sometimes we unfortunately have to forward patients on to Urgent Care or ER Hospitals, just like our human medical counterparts sometimes have to do so that our patients get the best care possible for their particular medical needs.

We extend our sincere appreciation to those clients who offer grace, who offer patience and kindness even in the chaos of it all. I always share Words of Thanks, Words of Kindness, Thank You Cards and Positive Google Reviews with our team because I always want them to remember their Why! Why they do what they do, because it really does Matter!

We just wanted to pause and say Thank You!! There was a post in the Everything Newville FB Group last week asking about our hospital...We were overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and all the kind words that were spoken about Dr. Hasco, Dr. Ritter and our entire team!! One of the most important things we try to remember every day is Our Why...Why we do what we do...And all of your words spoke to us reaffirming and reminding us of Our Why!!! Newville is an amazing community, one that if you are lucky enough to have grown up here you fully understand just how amazing it truly is! Dr. Hasco grew up here, he raised his boys here...He is still here, day in and day out caring for the pets of our community!! Responsibilities:
• Applicants must be skilled/trained in all aspects of anesthesia and patient monitoring, catheter placement, venipuncture, digital radiology, animal restraint and client/patient education
• Manage appointments: obtain histories, digital medical record keeping, client education, patient discharges, etc.
• Plan, organize, and manage the daily flow of services
• Client Communication
• Assist in patient procedures: preparation of patients, instruments, equipment and medications
• Inspire, teach, multitask and be a highly functional team member
• Collection and handling of laboratory samples
Qualifications:
• Prior veterinary experience or training preferred

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Back in the spring I contacted one of our clients who is an amazing artist and asked him if he would be willing to do some work for me (ok A Whole Lot Of Work LOL)...I wanted to gift each one of our team members an artistic portrait of one of their pets. I was asking for 24 pieces of artwork and He amazingly said yes! I then asked each team member for a portrait of one of their beloved pets (not telling them why I needed it LOL) and they all gave me what I asked for without any question.

When Mr. Jingles first got here he was super excited to see the Toys for Tots Box was back again this year! He said those boxes make Santa smile because they make kids Christmases more magical! He wanted to send HUGE North Pole Thank Yous to everyone who helped to fill our box this year to help to make a child's Christmas better! Mr. Jingles also sends special North Pole Thanks to the Marine Corp League for all they do every year for kids in need!!

I guess Mr. Jingles heard us all talking about dogs possibly getting sick with some respiratory issues yesterday because this morning we found him in the refrigerator shoveling through the Kennel Cough (Bordatella) & Flu vaccines. I guess he wanted to make sure we had enough to keep everyone protected!

Last month our team spent a morning together bonding and team building at our first ever Veterinary Team Olympics. We had so much fun participating in the Anal Gland Scooch Relay, The Tapeworm Challenge, The Cone of Shame Marshmallow Toss and the ever so fun, How Much Pee Could a Vet Tech Catch if a Vet Tech Could Catch Pee Relay! Here is a little glimpse of our morning!
