Oberon Stables has spaces opening up. A client is moving to Ocala and taking their retirees with them so we will have space in September! We are no ordinary retirement barn. Located on the former Locust Hill Farm in Hyde Park, NY the property boasts two barns, wash stalls with mats and hot and cold water, matted stalls, daily/nightly or 24/7 turn out and 150+ acres of beautiful pasture. We do blanket changes, fly gear, whatever your horse needs. Our feeding program is tailored to each horse's needs. If your horse is in work we have 300+ acres of trails, an outdoor ring and an indoor that is under construction. Add in our 40 years of experience and you have a pretty nice place to retire. We have client and vet references. Let us care for your horse. Special needs horses are our specialty! Please call for a chat and a tour!

We have openings for boarders! Pasture board or stall board. Located at the former Locust Hill Farm in Hyde Park, NY we offer all of the amenities (except indoor ring). We have acres of trails on the farm that connect to the former Rombout Hunt trails, matted stalls, matted wash stall, premium feed and hay and a tailored feeding program for each horse. With over 40 years experience in equine management we do our best to keep your horse healthy and happy. We specialize in special needs seniors and lay ups but we also welcome those who don't fit those categories. Bring your horse and allow us to dote on them!

We have openings for boarders! Temporary or permanent, mares or geldings, retired ( our specialty) or active....turn out or stall, In Hyde Park on a 300+ acre farm with lots of trails and an outdoor arena ( indoor is coming soon!) as well as copious turn out. Oberon Stables in Hyde Park is looking for some help to start ASAP. Ideally someone to clean and bed stalls, then set water buckets and hay in those stalls. 7-10 stalls per day. Today I watched a horse grieve. Through my own sadness and tears…. His friend was 34 1/2 years old. He had been a race horse, a jumper, a dressage horse and finally a lovely retired gent. They had lived apart for a few years but were reunited when they came to my barn for retirement. They were inseparable. His friend ‘s body had begun to fail but his spirit had not. He was laid to rest early this morning. At first he sniffed his friend, then he wandered into the shed and napped for a few minutes. He wandered back to his friend and sniffed him again, then laid down beside him for a bit as if to say “I’ll rest with you one more time, my friend”. Then he got up and napped on his feet again about 30 feet from his friend. He understood. He will be ok….. sad but ok. 💔❤️ Run free sweet Mashaba. Your absence is palpable…..

The move is nearly complete. After a grueling few days Oberon Stables is settled into our new home, Carlette Farm in Hyde Park, NY. The horses moved on Monday and even though it was a rainy day each time we were loading or unloading the rain backed off so we moved 9 horses and 2 mini donkeys without getting wet! Everyone loaded and traveled well including our blind foster pony, Casey. In fact he behaved better than some of the sighted horses! The atmosphere at Carlette is wonderful, the horses are settling in well, but now I have to get to work unpacking the 10 years worth of stuff that I just packed!
Oh! And Shadow, my lovely ex feral kitty moved with us and is living in a nice stall for a few months while he acclimates to his new home.

Oberon Stables has an announcement to make!! We are moving!!
For the past 10 years I have built the business at a lovely farm in Millerton,NY. I have wonderful memories at this farm, I have cared for so many horses here, and said goodbye to a few… but the time has come to grow a bit further.
Later this month Oberon Stables will be moving to Carlette Farm in Hyde Park, NY to continue boarding retirees and layups (my specialty) but also to board non retired horses. The farm has copious trails, a lovely outdoor ring and an indoor in the works, but best of all it has absolutely amazing turn out!
We will be accepting new boarders for July 1 so let me know if you are looking for a beautiful place to board that provides compassionate and professional care. (We are also a drama free zone!)
This is an exciting venture for us! Wish us luck !

I love what I do, but there are times when it’s hard…… the past month I have been caring for Bob, the handsome 21 year old Morgan cross who came to me 6 years ago anxious and unable to trust anyone new. He was sweet and misunderstood. It took more than a year for him to trust me enough not to pull back into the stall when I approached the stall gate, but he finally did. He became very special to me. His personality was huge. A month ago he became ill. He tesed positive for EPM and Lyme. He showed signs of neuralgia. We began treatment for both illnesses. We gave IV fluids for more than a week as well as NSAIDs, steroids, Marquis and antibiotics for a month.At times he rallied but in the end his body could not win the fight. After intense ICU treatment at the farm for a month he was helped over the rainbow bridge this afternoon. This past week he deteriorated rapidly despite our best efforts. The barn is hollow…….our hearts are broken…..run free handsome boy….. life will never be the same…..💔

It has been quite a while since I have posted so I thought I’d give an update to anyone interested… we have had a pretty quiet spring and summer until the beginning of August. We welcomed 5 new horses almost at once! 2 retirees from Massachusetts, A Fjord Mare and her 4 month old foal (can you say cute??!!) and a foxhunter for layup. Busy busy! Things have been good at the barn, but we are currently caring for a long term boarder who has had serious health struggles since mid August. He is fighting EPM combined with Neurological Lyme and everything that comes with that. If you pray please add him to your prayers, if you don’t then please keep him in your thoughts and your hearts…. He needs it. 🥺
