Join Dog Harmony for an informative workshop at the Fort Walton Beach Public Library on November 30th from 4-5 p.m.! This workshop is designed to teach kids how to safely interact with dogs and understand basic canine body language such as stress in dogs. Most dog bites are from the dogs of friends and family. This workshop teaches the child the necessary skills to avoid being bit.
After the 25 min workshop, therapy dogs will be on site for the kids to demonstrate what they have learned. Color sheets and games are also a part of the learning process.

Look at these 2 lovely pups! Meet Abby and Daisy. During this private lesson we worked on leash reactivity, loose leash walking together, recalls, and “leave it”. Abby had a breakthrough moment when she decided to look at a trigger(person walking by) and instead of lunging to greet she looked back at her owner. In the training world we call that a JACKPOT and give lots of treats and praise! 🎉🐩🎉
Abby and Daisy also had some enrichment fun! We played with bubbles, splashed in the pool, and sniffed around a woody area.

We stopped by the Niceville Library today for the R.E.A.D. Program with Jeri and Boomer. Madeline loved reading to Boomer. ❤️🐕🦺

Great training session this morning at McGuire's, Destin, Harborwalk Village, and Destin Engraving. These dogs rocked the urban setting, crossing the street, and greeting a friendly dog. Anna and Lady (Bernese Mountain Dog) are working towards their CGC though they are doing so great they will also test for CGC Advanced. Amy & Bear and Margaret & Hazel are working towards their CGC Advanced and Urban.
Big shout-out to Drew Cooper at Destin Engraving for letting us use the store and Mr Goober for being a perfect demo dog.
Meet Mr. Bentley. 😍 Schnauzers are dear to my heart and I am so excited to work with team Anne & Bentley to reach their goals. Today we ventured out to Bass Pro Shop and I was thrilled at how great Bentley did!
When it comes to training dogs everything must be positive and in small increments. We are working on Bentley overcoming some fears and building confidence. Go Team Bentley!

Two more teams earned their AKC Canine Good Citizen today!! 🎉🎉🎉 So happy for Amy & Bear and Margaret & Hazel. Both Hazel and Bear have come a long way when it comes to their separation anxiety, complete 180 from when they first started training. ❤️ Both teams have Therapy Team goals and they are well on their way!
Next stop for these two teams is the 4 week Advanced Canine Good Citizen classes. I have 1 more spot available. We meet at various locations in Destin and Fort Walton Beach.

Yesterday was a fun and busy day! Wait till you see pictures from our Golden Retriever play date!! 🥰🥰
But first I want to share how proud I am of these 3 teams. Wanda and Millie, Jennifer and Doc, and Sherri and Fiona. These dogs and their owners have come so far when it comes to working as a team. All 3 passed their AKC CGC Advanced tests. We even threw in some Therapy Dog skills during the test and they rocked it! Congratulations to you all!
Now all three will be testing for Therapy NEXT WEEK!!

At this group I’ll be talking about all things doodle including ideas on how to train, and work with these high energy and high maintenance dogs. Doodles are ending up in local rescues in surprisingly large numbers so let’s put a stop to that!

Training opportunities can be found in daily routines. This weekend I worked on loose leash walking with 3 dogs. I also worked on Phoenix’s leash reactivity when she sees new dogs, barking dogs, passing by dogs not on a leash. We also worked on introducing a Phoenix to new puppy. At the end of the day- I rewarded her with one of her favorite activities- the pool! Quick video montage of what we worked on! Would love to hear how training went this weekend for you! I’ve owned 3 mats for over 2 years and bring them to my classes, restaurants, beaches, parks, etc... Mutt Mats are very durable, lightweight, and machine washable. I am so proud of these two teams!! BOTH passed the American Kennel Club, Canine Good Citizen (AKC CGC) test today!! Team Millie and Team Baloo worked so hard. Their owners are extremely dedicated to their dogs and IT SHOWS! Millie had to work on adolescent excitement and distractions. With the help of her owners she became more focused and less impulsive throughout the 4 week class. The goal for Millie is to be a Therapy Animal. Team Millie is well on their way to that goal because her owners are so dedicated to her training! 🥰 Baloo had to work on her confidence and reaction to other dogs. She looked so confident during the test today and approaches/passes friendly dogs with confidence now! Millie was the perfect classmate for Baloo. 🥰 Both are now working on their AKC Novice Trick title. Congratulations to both teams!!! You did it!! Happy Saturday! Phoenix is enjoying a sunny day in Florida. This pup used to hate the pool. Using positive reinforcement with praise and toys she gained confidence and now I can’t get her OUT of the pool.
This morning we were honored to watch the Emergency Vehicle Procession in honor of Niceville Police Department’s K9 Blue. The end of watch ceremony is on August 26 at 10am. It will be held at the Northwest Florida State College Mattie Kelly Arts Center, 100 E College Blvd, Building 100. Doors open at 9am. Niceville Police Department City of Niceville
Enrichment activities expose your puppy to a variety of sights, smells, sounds, and textures that help their brains develop. This afternoon Happy Tails had the pleasure of setting up several enrichment stations for these foster puppies. They really enjoyed foraging in this mini ball pit!
