Any breed of dog can be utilized as a Service or Assistance Dog. They don't even have to be purebred. Mixed breeds can be great service dogs! Moriah loves to visit shelters and find dogs that show promising attributes for being a future service dog. Above is Gracie, she is in service dog training and visited Universal studios with Moriah. Service dogs need to be prepared for all types of environments. Visiting an amusement park provided various types of training opportunities for Gracie.

One of the best ways to bond with your pup is to introduce them to positive reinforcement training. When you reward your dog for good behaviour with treats, praise, or extra playtime, they are more likely to repeat it. While training, your dog will learn good manners, and at the same time, they will interact and bond with you. They will start associating you with positive things and will look forward to spending time with you, therefore you will create an unbreakable friendship. A dog can be trained at any age. The sooner you start, the better. Happy dog equals a happy dog parent.

Meet Brandy 🐾
She is our director of all things Marketing and Moriah’s right hand in running Sidekick Academy. After a year of battling different health concerns, Brandy was referred by her medical provider to pursue the assistance of a service dog. After an abrupt end to her initial service dog training program, Brandy sought Moriah to help her continue her work with Chug, since he was at a crucial developmental age for continuing his training. After watching Moriah’s work in action and learning about Moriah’s new endeavors, Brandy offered her knowledge and expertise in digital business consulting and marketing to help Moriah expand her reach. Brandy will help bring Moriah’s knowledge, tips, and recommendations in front of those who need it most.

Meet Moriah 🐾
She is the co-owner of Sidekick Academy and our Lead dog trainer! She has always dreamt of starting her own dog training business to pursue her passion full time and spread knowledge to dog owners everywhere. Moriah grew up training horses with her grandfather in Kentucky. During her time on the farm, she witnessed several dogs get dumped/abandoned near the property. Taking in these abandoned dogs that turned into lifelong companions, sparked her strong belief that if all dog owners would receive the proper resources needed and adequate dog training education, less dogs would be abandoned. She began her career through interning for a local dog training company and eventually, she worked her way up to become the lead trainer. She has trained K9 law enforcement dogs 🚨, service dogs 🐕‍🦺, and lots of young and old puppies 😉. Her main area of expertise is in service dog training. 🐾
