Meet Leonard!

Leonard is an 8-month-old Australian Shepherd mix who is ready for a family! This handsome boy came to us last week as a stray with another dog and never claimed. He loves other dogs and has yet to meet a person he doesn’t love.

You may notice Leonard’s eyes are a bit different than other dogs! We believe Leonard is a Double Merle, which is the result of breeding two dogs with the Merle coat/gene. Each puppy in that litter has a 25% chance of being a double Merle, which often means they can be deaf, blind, or both. In Leonard’s case, we believe he may have slight sight impairment, but can hear.

Leonard is looking for a home that can give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccines and preventatives!

So sweet!

Nothing beats sleeping in on Saturday morning! Jenny makes the best nests. Her favorite things to use are paper and straw, but she likes to throw in some stuffed animals here and there too! ❤

Meet Zulu! Zulu is a former pet who came to the PRC from Georgia in 1998. She is one of five chimpanzees, known as the “Dahlonega 5,” who were confined to a 10'x10' concrete bunker once they grew older and too strong and dangerous to live in their former owner’s home as "pets." For more than a decade, these chimps had to make room for themselves by pushing newspaper debris—along with years of their own waste—into piles and against the walls that accumulated to four feet high in some areas. They had no natural light or access to the outdoors and lost both hair and muscle tone in these miserable conditions. Even after enduring this trauma, Zulu chooses to share her kind soul with us; she often sticks her lips against her enclosure windows, like a kiss, as a friendly gesture towards her caregivers.
Zulu is very motherly and loves to take care of the younger chimps in the group. When the younger chimps arrived at the PRC, Zulu quickly took on the role of adoptive mom to the youngsters.
