With the assistance of our Amazon wish list, Bane was able to enjoy the hot summer day playing in water. Bane has been available for adoption since June. He enjoys playing ball, knows basic commands, and has lived with a cat. As a 2-year, 8-month-old bloodhound/Lab mix, Bane's adoption is also sponsored.

Sweet Rosey is still available for adoption! She didn't work out in the trial visit. She's too much puppy for the older dog in the home.

Rosey loves to play with dogs, kids, or adults! She is very active but also loves to hang out in her crate. She will sleep in her crate all night as long as it's in a room with her people.

Rosey is 7 months old, spayed and up to date on her vaccines.

Please message us if you are interested in adopting this darling little girl!

Everyday is love your pet day but today it's official! And an excuse to beg for extra treats!!!

With the wintry weather on our doorstep we wanted to provide additional information regarding the county ordinances pertaining to sheltering, particularly for this time of year. See below for definitions regarding shelter as well as what constitutes weather that canines would need to be brought inside for.
Please keep in mind that we can only enforce the ordinances and definitions below; even if the circumstances are not ideal for the canine, as long as the below conditions are met there is unfortunately nothing for us to act upon.
SECTION 90.01 DEFINITIONS:
ADEQUATE SHELTER. Shall be provided to any canine(s) that remains outside. The shelter must be suitable for the species, age, and condition of the animal, The shelter shall:
(1) be structurally sound, with a solid floor, enclosed sides or walls, and must be properly ventilated. The shelter shall be sanitary and weather/waterproof. Suitable drainage must be provided so that water is not standing in or around the structure;
(2) be small enough to allow the animal’s body heat to warm the interior of the structure but be large enough to allow the animal to stand up, turn around, and lie down without touching the walls;
(3) be made from suitable, appropriate, materials to prevent harm or injury to the animal(s);
(4) provide access to shade from direct sunlight and regress from exposure to inclement weather conditions, hot or cold, but which does not exacerbate existing weather conditions; and
(5) placed in an area offering the best available protection from inclement weather, hot or cold.
⚠️⚠️⚠️EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS: Periods of time when weather conditions are such that a heat warning or wind chill warning is issued by the National Weather Service.⚠️⚠️⚠️

Frigid temps are coming. Please bring in your pets, at least to the garage, and provide warm bedding!
Feral or stray cats? Consider putting out a shelter for them this winter!

The City of Lexington mandates that dogs must have access to a doghouse with organic bedding!

Doghouses should:

• Be an appropriate, enclosed, durable, and permanent structure or a structure manufactured to serve primarily as an outdoor shelter for a dog

• Have four sides, with a roof, and a floor with dimensions appropriate for the size and breed

• Provide adequate protection from the direct effect of wind, rain, and snow

• Have organic bedding - blankets are not permitted as bedding! We recommend packing the doghouse full of straw to keep your animal as warm and dry as possible

Please give us a call if you see a dog not being provided with the minimum standards of care – their life may depend on it! Call us at 859-255-9033 to report any animal-related concerns.

Thank You Ale-8-One for Sponsoring our Christmas Open House!

Well; poor Buttons is starting to come undone 😔. Please be the reason his other ear doesn't drop down. Thanksgiving came and went and he's still here, just like every week. He's our longest resident and we're astounded because he is the absolute best boy ever. This is what a perfect dog looks like minus the sad eyes 🙁. He's got fantastic leash manners, potty trained, loves people and other dogs, and is great at playing fetch and has an obsession with squeaky toys. Please don't let Christmas come and go and this boy still be here. Share if you can't adopt. Come meet him and see for yourself how sweet he is!

3 years old
Shepherd Mix
No puppy madness for this boy, he's the perfect age!
