Jessamine County Trap/Neuter Return Program, Inc.

Jessamine County Trap/Neuter Return Program, Inc. We are dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of Jessamine County's feral and free-roaming cat population through Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR).

Please call 859-983-9016 for more information. Trap, neuter and return, referred to as TNR, is a national program in which feral cats are trapped using safe and humane traps, taken to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and then returned to their colonies. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into homes when possible.

February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, and World Spay Day is celebrated on February 25.

If you're involved in caring for outdoor stray/feral community cats without a tipped left ear, it's time to take the next steps toward spaying or neutering!!!

‼️Female cats are currently in heat and/or pregnant. 😭

✅️ Prompt action NOW will make a significant difference as 'kitten season' approaches.

FFF provides information to TNR appointments (or clinics), loans humane traps, and provides TNR guidance for those in and around Charlotte, NC.

In honor of National Feral Cat Day we helped 39 kitties take the No More Litters pledge! This is very hard, emotional, but rewarding work that we are all so thankful to be a part of!! Thank you to everyone who supports us both financially with donations or time to help keep this program going so we can help improve lives and health of kitties we come in contact with. The days can contain tears, laughs, sweat, broken hearts, and blessed moments at any moment, but no one involved would ask for anything different!

Love them or hate them ... Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the ANSWER!!!!

❤️ Love community cats? ...
You can help the cats in your neighborhood by TNRing them. Spaying female cats means she won't go into heat, get pregnant, and birth kittens outdoors. Spayed females won’t attract new male cats to your neighborhood, and when you get the male cats neutered, you’ll be making their life MUCH easier. No more fighting over female cats or stinky spraying to mark their territory. And fewer cat fights keep diseases like FIV from spreading.

🚫 Hate community cats?
Removing cats from your neighborhood is NOT an effective solution because it creates the “vacuum effect” meaning new cats will move in to start the cycle of reproduction all over again. But when you get the cats fixed and RETURN them to your neighborhood, the cats will no longer be reproducing and less new cats will move in. TNR means less odor, less noise, and fewer cats being born. 👍👍👍

Thank you, Stray Cat Project, for these words.

If you are feeding 1 or 2 stray/feral community cats, spay and neuter ASAP through the process of Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR)!

Spaying and neutering is a one-time cost (and you won't have to feed 12+ cats after those 2 cats you started feeding, turn into many more!!!)

❗️And guess what? --- You DO NOT NEED TO WAIT TO GAIN A COMMUNITY CAT'S TRUST TO GET THAT CAT SPAYED OR NEUTERED. A humane trap is safest for them and you!

✅️ Trap/Neuter/Return any community cat you are feeding!

Please google Low-Cost Spay Neuter clinics in your area! Many areas have resources to help!

If you're in the Charlotte, NC area, please visit our website to learn more about TNR and low-cost options in our area - https://www.friendsofferalfelines.org/how-to-tnr.
