Our pleasure

Cash and Curtis are recovering nicely from their castration surgeries. We want to thank everyone who's made a donation or pledged one for a crochet critter, we appreciate the help. We still have one crochet donkey up for grabs, again it's available until midnight tomorrow night for minimum donation pledge of $50! We would also like to give a tremendous shout out to One Horse At A Time, Inc. for supporting these castrations and helping take a snip out of the overbreeding of these adorable donkeys.

Cash and Curtis were carted to an auction NY in the back of a van in the fall of 2023. They were babies and one was very sick. Luckily for these 2 sweet baby Aliens, Collen Segarra at Equine Rescue Resources was contacted. Her dad, and husband helped her rescue these 2 sweet things.

Fast forward to now. Cash and Curtis have thrived and become brash young boys. Full of p**s and vinegar.

It was time.

OHAAT is delighted to have been able to help geld them.

We love helping making geldings. If you think what we do is worthwhile, please help us with a donation.

Paypal is the preferred donation vehicle. Our paypal address is [email protected]

Thank you.

Good news for this sweet mare!

This sounds like a great organization. I've never heard of it before. Anyone ever been there or worked with them?

A very good read. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem

A very good read. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem

'Enough is Enough' has never rung more true.
It saddens me that I feel making this post is even necessary but my indignation and the brevity of the situation won out over that.
I am (for the time being ) putting a cap on what we will pay for emaciated, sick ,horribly pitiful horses at auction. (This pains me to even type ,as I have ALWAYS been the 'whatever it takes' girl.)
Now let me tell you WHY.
There is a growing ugly trend at the moment of individuals and traders BANKING on rescues paying exorbitant prices for horses in auction in terrible condition and flat out laughing about it when it happens.
The bad part is .....they didn't create THIS problem. I know that everyone loves to hate the kill buyers, but they did not create this particular issue.
Rescues bidding against each other for NO good reason is one huge factor in doing so ,though.
It feels as though rescues working together is becoming a pipe dream more by the day. Outbitting another rescue for fear that they will not properly care for them or knowingly keeping a horse out of a bad place is one thing..
Bidding against each other for personal reasons is an entirely different matter.
'I don't like her face' is NOT a good reason to use these horses to cause an even bigger problem.
(Doesn't the world have enough of those ?)
I've already made this too long, but in a nutshell.....
This is sick ,and it is sad.
Emaciated horses auctioning for THOUSANDS.
Mares and foals toted around to multiple auctions and bringing $2-$7,000 is not only bananas,it is encouraging people capable of bad things to do them more easily and ENABLING it.
This is one game I will not play.
Believe me when I say......right now the word 'rescue' isn't living up to what it should be.
This may well be putting a Band-Aid on a bullet hole, but I REFUSE to pay people to be horrible and laugh their way to the bank with money that could save many.
It's always the horses who pay for human created problems and I'm quite sick of seeing it.
I will always help these horses to the best of my ability, but this sick cycle carousel currently taking place in auctions..
Is a sad situation.
More to come........

Fundraiser transparency post on Little Treasures Farm campaign.

OHAAT received $302 and an additional $283 specific to having the ultrasound done. $302 was paid to the rescue's vet this morning and the ultrasound has been scheduled for next Tuesday with a different vet. Next Tuesday OHAAT will pay the vet performing the ultrasound the $283.

I think it is absolutely a requirement of any 501c3 to report a total of funds received for any fundraising effort. And that's non negotiable for me :)
