The 4th of July is a time for fun, but it can be stressful and dangerous for pets. Between the loud fireworks and summer heat, it’s important to take extra steps to ensure their safety.
Here are a few tips to keep your pets comfortable and safe:
Keep them indoors: Fireworks can be frightening, so it's best to keep pets indoors during the celebrations. Create a calm, quiet space with their favorite toys or a comfy bed.
Update ID tags and microchips: In case your pet gets scared and tries to run off, make sure they have up-to-date ID tags and are microchipped.
Avoid the crowds: If you're attending a fireworks show or hosting a party, keep pets away from the noise and chaos. A quiet room can help them feel more secure.
Hydrate and cool down: If it's hot out, make sure your pet has access to fresh water and a cool place to relax. Avoid walks on hot pavement and keep them in the shade.
Avoid grill-out snacks: It’s tempting to share treats from the grill, but avoid giving your pets fatty foods, onions, or especially bones. Bones can splinter and cause choking or internal damage.
Let’s make sure the 4th is fun and safe for everyone, including our pets!
