With the 4th of July coming this Thursday we would like to give a few tips for how to keep your pet safe. Just a reminder to take inventory of your medications for noise phobias and refill them now if needed.

We will be closed July 4th, 5th and 6th and will resume normal business hours July 8th.

We are asking for your patience as our computer system is down.

You are welcome to call the clinic, but you will be asked to call back to schedule routine appointments.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency or urgent pet need please call and we will offer a medical admission (pet stays for the day) or a sit andwait appointment.

We appreciate your cooperation as we are working through this issue.

Our server is also where we access phone numbers so if you are waiting on a call back, please be patient. If you are waiting on test results, you’re welcome to call the clinic and check in for your pets information.

Robert "Doc" Martens was the man who started it all at Nicollet Veterinary Clinic back in 1956. Even in 2024 his love for animals continues to be seen. This picture was shared with us from a client who was on a walk with her cats the other day. They decided to stop and give Doc a visit. What a treasured memory this will be. 💕

February is national pet dental month. Dental health is very important for our patients. Pictures below is a recent before and after dental cleaning.

1. Dental disease doesn’t just affect the mouth. Did you know bacteria can spread from the mouth from dental disease and affect the kidneys heart and liver?
2. 2 thirds of your pets teeth are located under the gum line. The only way to evaluate that is dental X-rays. When we do a dental cleaning we do full mouth X-rays to determine if teeth are truely healthy or need intervention.
3. By age 3 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of dental disease.

Help maintain your furry friends mouths by keeping them current on exams and scheduling dental cleanings when recommended. Brush their teeth. Allow them to chew on appropriate dental chews. There are also some great dental foods that can help with tartar production.

This past week we celebrated this great group of ladies. We’re missing a few faces in this picture but we wanted to say we appreciate our vet techs Shari, Shawna, Kaitlyn, Grace and Mackenzie. And we appreciate our vet assistants Megan, Cait and Jasmine. Dr Abby, Dr Crystal and office manager Meghan definitely showed these ladies they are the best.

Your pet(s) deserve the best and it takes everyone on the veterinary health care team to make that happen. The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) recognized that fact and created National Veterinary Technician Week (NVTW).
As a member of the veterinary healthcare team, veterinary technicians are educated in the latest medical advances and skilled at working alongside veterinarians to give pets the best medical care possible.
The clinical support staff at Nicollet Vet are EXCEPTIONAL, and while we know this everyday, this week is specifically dedicated to thanking and appreciating them for their hard work, dedication, and love for animals.

Today starts National Veterinary Technician Week. This week when you come into the office, make sure you join us in celebrating our amazing group of ladies. We ♥️ our techs!

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response, we will be holding our first ever walk-in barn cat vaccine clinic for NVC clients this Tuesday, September 26th!

This will be on a first come, first serve basis from 8:30am - 11am. Vaccines will be with a technician, no exams will be performed. We will offer Distemper and Rabies vaccinations, Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus testing, FeLV vaccinations, and basic deworming.

To help allow animals get vaccinated that normally would not, we will be offering a 20% discount on the above services during this timeframe only!

When arriving at the clinic, please leave your animals in your vehicle, and either call or walk into the clinic to get checked in. Cats must be brought into the clinic in a carrier or kennel. Thank you!
