With summer festivities kicking off, we want to remind you about the symptoms of heatstroke and prevention tips:

-Never leave your pet unattended in a car
-When hot/humid, keep your pet’s time outdoors limited
-Keep your pet hydrated
-Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment
-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves
-If any signs of heat stroke appear, contact our team immediately.

As we kick off Memorial Day weekend, please keep in mind these pet safety tips to ensure a fun-filled weekend. 🐕🇺🇲

-Keep alcohol and table scraps away from your pets.
-Never leave your pets unsupervised around larger bodies of water.
-Keep your pets hydrated!!
-Limit time in the sun and remember to do a heat check!
-Keep your pets away from fireworks and avoid too large of groups/crowds.
(If needing to take your pets in an enlarged crowd, please make sure they have an ID tag or are microchipped.)

**Remember, our office is closed on Memorial Day, May 27th, but will reopen with normal hours of operation on Tuesday the 28th! **

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Animals can have a dental procedure performed with full mouth oral surgery and wake up pain free!!! 🙀 Watch Dr. Staycheff feeding and loving on her patient Liam just HOURS after he had full mouth extractions due to the disease that was found on his radiographs(x-rays) as the first part of his dental procedure. He’d like to thank his Mom for taking such great care of him! 😻💗 BUT FIRST: 🦷Dentals should ALWAYS start with full mouth radiographs as 60% of the tooth(and disease) is hiding under the gum line! 🦷If you hear the words “anesthesia-free dental”...just run 🏃🏼‍♂️ 🦷If your groomer “scrapes the tartar”...that’s like you leaving the dentist after the doctor has scraped your teeth & prior to polishing 🙀 😻With proper anesthetic monitoring and an individualized pain protocol for each patient, they should always be pain free!
