We had a great day of looking for birds, not so much of putting them in the game bag, but all the dogs did fantastic.

We had a long day in the field yesterday. Our counters registered 32,000 steps, so the dogs were probably triple or better. They did two super scent-loud hare tracks and a fun sight-loud cottontail run, along with some great retrieves. We were joined in the field by our host, my nephew Aaron, and his friend Adam. Adam brought his Drahthaar, Maverick, and Kurzhaar, Daisy, and can that Daisy girl cover some ground! What a great day with a few birds in the bag, and some sore legs all the way around.

Six years ago Thomas had just finished his GP blood track with his wachtelhund Quill. I was giving him a hard time for me, the old guy having to carry out the goat used at the end of the track as the dead game found by Quill. We both laugh every time we come across this photo. Great times!

We are having a great time in Nebraska working dogs with a fabulous trio of judges from Germany, Sweden, and Canada.

I had a great couple of days watching some fantastic German pedigree dogs test for their VGP (Utility) test. The test for my girls is very similar, however these tests are for the "pointing" versatile breeds. Wesley, owned by Thomas Appel is very interested in the duck being held by Justin. After being introduced to Justin and talking a bit, it turns out that he lives just about 5 blocks from me! Who knew?? To all of the handlers and dogs, great work!

Have you ever seen two Wachtelhunds looking any more forlorn than these two? My daughter's dog Kraken was here for the long weekend and although they didn't engage him alot, once he left they refused some snacks, and then I get this! LOL

And there was one! King vom Blue Moon is the last pup available looking for that loving home that will work his tail off. He is the brute of the male pups. He is going to be a driven dog in the field with stamina that surprises all new owners. Take this fella home and share a lifetime of memories with King.

Haley is on the mend and was able to go home!

To say the least, we have been on pins and needles waiting to hear how Haley vom Blue Moon is doing after emergency surgery to help her through being septic. This was most likely caused by a post birth infection from a non-expelled placenta.

We just heard from Alan that she may be coming home late this morning after they evaluate her blood work. Prayers for our little girl, her litter of 11 pups and to the Kelly family and their friends for seeing this through with support and bottle feeding of the pups, and doing what it takes to be a caring dog owner. We sure picked a good family for our Haley!!

Welcome vom Blue Moon "K" litter. It was a long night for Haley and the Kelly family. Labor started around 8pm on Tuesday night and the last pup was born at almost 4am Wednesday morning! In all there are 11 pups. 6 males, 5 females, which total 8 brown, and 3 light red or often refered to as blonde. Wow!

Well, after Alan took Haley vom Blue Moon in for her x-rays, it would appear that the earlier estimate of 5 pups was a bit off. It seems that she is carrying 8 and possibly more.

I wish that I could have seen the look on Alan's face when he heard that. That kind of frantic excited look, like a deer in the headlights.

Wow, where does the time go Our little Haley vom Blue Moon passed her JP hunt test and has been bred to another outstanding Wachtelhund, his name is Max. Max is owned by Craig Storer, and is a brown male that Craig imported from Germany. Craig and Max tested along side Haley in Nebraska, and have proven that Max is everything that you could want in a young Wachtelhund, with that, we are excited to see the pups that these two will produce. Alan is having x-rays done next week so that he can get a better count. If you haven't gotten with Alan to get your deposit in, you need to do it now.
