Your Vet, Your Home

Your Vet, Your Home Your Vet, Your Home is a veterinary house call service that serves Boulder County and beyond. Perhaps your furry friend is terrified of veterinary hospitals.
(9)

There are so many reasons to have a veterinarian make a house call. You find it difficult to carve out 2 hours from your busy day to schlep the kids and critters to the vet between piano lessons and soccer practice (a house call can take as little as 30mins start to finish). You may have an older pet that finds it difficult to travel or is difficult to load into the car. It feels like an eternally

long trip to the vet when your passenger is a yowling cat. You or your pet would rather not leave the comfort of your own home to receive veterinary care. Whatever the reason, I can provide compassionate care at a competitive price while thoroughly addressing your questions and concerns. I have lived in Colorado since 1997. I grew up along the coast in Wilmington, NC. I studied biology and chemistry at Appalachian State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991. I have been practicing veterinary medicine since 1996 when I graduated from North Carolina State University-College of Veterinary Medicine. I am passionate about educating clients about preventative medicine and offering options to find a solution that will work best for people and their pets. I want to empower people to make informed decisions allowing them to provide the best life possible for their pets. Please feel free to contact me to inquire about my services. Although routine medical care is most suitable to housecalls, there are many medical conditions and circumstances I feel are very appropriately seen as a house call. Unfortunately, medical emergencies that require significant diagnostic work (with quick results) are best seen in a veterinary hospital. Although when in doubt, ask!

Dogs lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you're going to lose a dog, and there's going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can't support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There's such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.
Maybe loving dogs is a way we do penance for all the other illusions we allow ourselves and the mistakes we make because of those illusions. ~Dean Koontz

With the severe heat we are having, be particularly careful with your pets!

Walk your dogs when it's cooler outside.
Waiting for cooler temperatures reduces the risk of heatstroke and burning their paws on the pavement. (Walk in the early mornings and evenings).

Do NOT leave your dog unsupervised around bodies of water.
A swimming pool can provide a welcome cool-down on a hot summer day, but a pool, or any body of water, can be a drowning hazard for pets.

NEVER leave your pet inside a car.
Even if just for a few minutes and with the windows cracked open, the temperature inside a car can quickly reach 120°F and beyond in just minutes.

Be cautious of your dog drinking sea water.
During beach days, remember that when swimming or playing in the water, your dog can consume salt water. This can irritate the GI tract and, in large amounts, can potentially become toxic for your pet. Tip: Pack fresh water and a bowl for your doggo.

Be careful swimming in bodies of fresh water.
Dogs who play or swim in lakes, ponds, or rivers are at risk of coming in contact with algae, bacteria, or parasites. Some of these organisms can be harmful to your pet.

I have a FB friend who's looking to foster 2+ new born puppies. She has a Labrador Retriever that had a single puppy 2 days ago. Mama is making milk and would be happy to share and help her singleton not have the behavioral issues common with these situations. She is located in Wilmington, NC. Any leads are welcome. Thanks so much!

This is Sweet Sasha and she needs a new home. A home with lots of love and time for a 6 month old puppy with beautiful yellow eyes and a ton of energy. She is so smart but the current home she is in doesn't have a yard, or the time to train this sweet girl. She doesn't know about leashes and walks, she is trying to be a good girl and not potty in the house, but she doesn't always get let out. She is shy but warms up quick to a kind hand and a handful of baby carrots. She has no toys, other than the few I have bought for her. I am her next door neighbor and have fallen in love with her, but I live in the same apartments and have no yard for her either. She loves kids, and lives with a two year old, but is very bouncy so maybe a home with slightly bigger kiddos that will play with her outside. I will keep looking but wanted to put this out in hopes someone is looking for a new fur family member...
Oh and she has already been spayed. They are gonna take her to the pound, and I am sure she will be adopted quickly, but due to her timid nature, my heart aches for her having to be there at all, but on the upside, at least she will get walks...😔
