Update on Baby J.
We have sadness in our hearts but she crossed over this evening. We had put her antibiotics at 10,000mg a day and she fought a great fight. In the end, not knowing how long she had injuries and infection before we were contacted, we couldn't get her infection under control.
It's so hard everytime, but if we didn't have the compassion and willpower to care for these animals, we would just quit on days like today.
Instead we will continue on and take solace in the fact we gave Baby J her best fight and she knew she was loved and cared for in her last days.
We want to take a moment to personally thank Nah Hannegan and her family from the equine rescue for all their help in transport and assisting us with treatment.
A special thanks to Lana Merrick and her husband Jim. Jim is the vet that assisted us during this time.
Lastly, we can't forget all the nice people that sent wishes.
Thank you from all of us at Hooves and Snouts Farm Animal Sanctuary "Adoptions of Pot Belly/Mini Pigs" .
If you would like to contribute to her expenses or the work we do then please do at one of the platforms on our page links.
Rest now Baby J, your pain is over. You will be missed...

Update on Baby J..
Not good news as it appears that her kidneys are shutting down.
We are trying to put as much electrolytes in her as we can but unfortunately the vet told us that there is really not much more we can do except keep her comfortable.
We are giving her pain meds but the outlook is bleak.
Thanks to everyone that has helped us with this rescue.
It's the hardest part when you put everything you can into saving a life to be taken away.
We will keep her comfortable and she knows she is loved.

Good evening!
We wanted to give an update on "Baby J" and her injuries .
We are currently Betadine drenching her wounds twice a day and she is on 10,000mg antibiotic a day. J is responding pretty well and seems like her wounds are hopefully beginning to close.
We still have a ways to go to battle the infection from either being shot or attacked by a bobcat.
Keep her in your thoughts and if you would like to contribute to her care, please do at one of our following platforms.
Thank you and Happy Holidays from all of us at Hooves and Snouts Farm Animal Sanctuary "Adoptions of Pot Belly/Mini Pigs"

Today is a very sad day for us at Hooves and Snouts Farm Animal Sanctuary "Adoptions of Pot Belly/Mini Pigs" went out to feed and found our beautiful girl Lily had passed some time either last night or this morning. She was our first rescued Jenny and she was very loved and will be missed so much. Please if you can donate toward her disposal no matter the amount everything helps.

It cost $460.00 to have an animal removal service come get her. Please if you can donate we sure can use the help.

We are a 501(c)(3) so your donation may be tax deductible.

Several weeks ago, we had starting posting about a "jenny" we were trying to save from a unfortunate situation on a local farm.
Baby J is her name and we put her between 20-25 years old.
When we were contacted by the owner we found her apparently shot in 2 or 3 different areas by pellet rifles or possibly attacked by a bobcat. Her wounds were serious and we knew we were up against time with her.

Baby J was raised on this farm so she had never seen or ridden in a horse trailer in her life so we knew that task was ahead but treating her was first priority.

We immediately began heavy doses of antibiotic, cleaning her wounds and getting them started on the healing process.
After the first week we were able to get a halter on her and her wounds were beginning to look better so we were gaining on her injuries.

After over 2 weeks treating her in the field, while also gaining her trust, we began the process of trying to load her in an open pasture into our horse trailer.
Let me tell you the old saying "stubborn as a mule" had new meaning!
Fast forward a few more attempts, still no go on the transport, so we knew it was time to bring in reinforcements!

I think God was thinking about us because the very people we were going to call upon to help, contacted us about helping!
24 hours later she arrived safe and sound to her now forever home!
So, I have rambled on a bit about Baby J's story but we are proud to introduce Baby J to Hooves and Snouts Farm Animal Sanctuary "Adoptions of Pot Belly/Mini Pigs" Her vet visits will be beginning soon so we need your help.
If you would like to assist with Baby J's treatment, please donate to one of the platforms on our page.
We are a 501C3 rescue and your donation can be 100% deductible.
We want to send our special Thank you to the equine rescue in Lexington, Okla owned by Nah Hennegan her family for getting J loaded and transported safely.
We couldnt have gotten this done without Nah, Emily and John!

Update: we have a fellow animal rescue and friend coming Friday to help us. Hopefully we get her this time.

Needs some ideas. We have been trying to rescue a 20 ish year old mule for the past two months. We She has never been loaded in a trailer. We have tried treats, pellets, a shoot and unfortunately a shock rod. She will not budge. Her owner can no longer care for her so she just roams her acreage eating grass and drinking from the pond. We need to get her to our house before all the grass dies since there is no one to feed her. She leads well just puts on the brakes at the trailer door. Any suggestions please?
