We are thrilled to endorse, support and cheer for Ben’s Ranch Foundation as they assume leadership of the horse barn at Strawtown Koteewi Park! Ben’s Ranch is an incredible organization doing remarkable work with youth struggling with various mental health issues and unique challenges. Their dedication to fostering personal growth through horse/Ag-related activities is remarkable. The decision by the Hamilton County Parks Department to entrust them with the horse barn and trail riding operation at Strawtown Koteewi Park is a fantastic opportunity for the community, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all involved.

So excited for Bens Ranch Foundation and our friend Executive Director Brose McVey.

Ben’s Ranch Foundation has assumed management and operation of a public trail riding stable located at Strawtown Koteewi Park in Noblesville.

Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love and support… means a great deal. Sharing a beautiful column in today’s newspaper from the remarkable Betsy Reason. She has supported us from day one and is such a treasure in our community. Thank you Betsy for the kind words. You make this county better just by being you. We are proud of what we accomplished as a family and as an expanded group of horse enthusiasts. Hopefully the next operators of the equestrian facility can take it to another level!

Dear valued customers and partners,

After six successful seasons of operating the equestrian facility at Strawtown Koteewi Park, K-Trails Equestrian Adventures will no longer be continuing its operations at the park. We have made this decision so that we can focus on a new business offering curated riding holidays at western ranches and global destinations including Patagonia, Iceland, New Zealand, India, Mongolia, Italy, Kenya and South Africa.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Hamilton County Parks and Recreation for partnering with us over the past seven years to provide horseback riding experiences, pony rides, corporate events, birthday parties and more to the public. It has been an honor to work with such a dedicated and supportive team.

Our main goal in opening this business was to introduce people to horses in an educational and enjoyable manner, and to provide employment opportunities to young people and horse enthusiasts. We are proud to have hired hardworking and talented youth from 4H, FFA, Scouts, and other organizations, as well as people on the autism spectrum and others dealing with mental health challenges. For us, the horse and the beautiful natural environment of the park provide a unique space for personal growth.

We want to thank the entire Hamilton County Parks Department, especially former Director Al Patterson, Current director Chris Stice, Assistant Director Bruce Oldham, and Strawtown Koteewi Park Manager Chandler Bryant, for their unwavering support throughout the years. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Hamilton County Commissioners for their unparalleled support for the adventure partners at the park. Strawtown Koteewi Park is an amazing adventure destination and we are thankful for the opportunity to help in its success.

Hamilton County Parks and Recreation will now be seeking a new operator for the equestrian facility at Strawtown Koteewi Park. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please visit their website for more information: https://www.hamiltoncounty.in.gov/296/Parks-and-Recreation

It has been a true adventure and labor of love for the entire Stewart family, and we wish nothing but success to the next operator of the barn. Thank you for your support and understanding as we transition to the next chapter of our journey.

Sincerely,

John Stewart
Owner and General Manager

We will be closing for the season on Sunday November 6th! Please make plans to join us for one last ride this season. Reservations available at ktrails.com.

Strawtown Koteewi Park will be closed to horseback riding this Saturday, October 30 from 6 am - 12 pm for “Heroes Run”that will be taking place that morning. Our first trail ride of the day will be at 11:30 AM (leaving the barn at 12:00 Noon). You can make reservations at KTrails.com.

So why are we closing Saturday morning and what exactly is the Hero’s Run?!? The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation is hosting this fun run/walking event and everyone in the family can participate! The Heroes Run encourages positive interactions, embraces the great outdoors, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Plus, we simply love the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. They take such incredible care looking over our business and the entire Strawtown Koteewi Park area.

So lace up your hooves… uh, shoes and sign up online.

Thank you to all of our AWESOME customers who are understanding when we need to rechedule rides due to extreme heat and humidity. Our horses simply love their job giving customers rides through beautiful Strawtown Koteewi Park and they will work through all conditions. But we will always disappoint a customer to protect and do right by the horse when there is a heat advisory. When the Heat Index is above 95-100, we limit the amount of rides and make sure each horse gets more shade, water, etc. When it’s forecast to be in the 102-105 range, we will cancel trail rides and try to reschedule each of our customers for a future date. If we are not able to accommodate our guest’s schedule, then we will provide a refund.
Thank you again for understanding and supporting our business!

We are opening on April 30th for our SIXTH season at Strawtown Koteewi Park!

Looking for a few new staff members to join the K-Trails family.
- Must love horses.
- Must be nice (to both people and horses).
- There is ALWAYS something to do around a horse barn so if you like to stand around and do nothing, this is not a job for you.
- If you like to gossip, complain or create drama, this is not a job for you.
- We promise that you will sweat, shovel manure (lots of it actually) and get frustrated with your co-workers and probably some customers.
- We get dirty brushing horses, putting on their saddles, feeding them, walking them though mud, leading trail rides. breathing in lots of dirt, untacking all of the horses at the end of the day, and sweeping the barn constantly. You will enjoy taking a shower/bath after a day working at the barn.
- We introduce people to horseback riding and pursue good horsemanship. This is something we chase on a daily basis. If you know already know everything about horses, go somewhere else.
- We work weekends and holidays.
- We don’t get paid much but we smell like horses, work outdoors and feel good about our job.
- We love giving people their first horseback ride.
- We love the children that come for pony rides.
- We love giving families, friends and groups a unique and memorable shared experience .
- Our horses are gentle, loving and do their absolute best for our customers. We all need to be more like them.
- We serve a VERY diverse customer base. If you are a racist, xenophobe, homophobe, snob, elitist or just a hateful person, please do us both a favor and do NOT apply for a job at K-Trails.
- Special consideration is given to youth that have participated in 4H, FFA, Scouting, etc. We love to employ personable, hard working young adults 16-25 years of age. If that’s you, we can teach you about horses. We will always hire a good young person with character and an interest in animals over an entitled know it all horse kid that is used to someone else grooming and cleaning up after their horse.
- If you are over 25 years of age and want to work at K-Trails, you MUST have a unique ability to love on and encourage younger people. We operate this barn to give back to the community and to give young people a good first job. Don’t come in and be a boss. Come in and help our younger staff grow. Be willing to coach and mentor not supervise. We have REMARKABLE young adults on our staff and they are worth investing in.
- This is our sixth season. We continue to grow but many people still don’t even know where K-Trails or Strawtown Koteewi Park is. We would like for you to tell people about us so we can survive.
- This is a seasonal job between April and Early November. It’s super fun but we miss each other and the horses over winter.
- We enjoy people that think differently and love people on the “Spectrum”. Our life is better with these gifted people in it. Once again… snobs and elitist types need not apply.
- The owners are Christ followers. You do not need to be a Christian, but you do need to understand that they pray for their employees and pray over the business. They try their best to use the Bible as their guide when it comes to personnel issues, financial stewardship and pretty much everything else. But they will not preach to you or pressure you EVER. To them everyone is on their own spiritual journey and the more you are around horses and nature, the closer you will be to understanding that there is indeed a creator and there is a purpose for your life.
- If after reading all of this, you are still interested in a job at K-Trails, please email a paragraph about yourself to [email protected]. He’s the owner and general manager and can get grumpy at times but Andrew, Natalie, Shelby, Hope, Busy, Chloe, Emili, Karen and the nice John (Davis) are the ones you'll be working with on a regular basis and they are all super nice and fun to be around. Owner John Stewart will schedule a working interview to see if you can hustle, work hard and laugh like the rest of the staff.

Oh, please do not have your parents email us telling us you need a job. This is about you and your future. You can email John at [email protected]

Our entire staff is thinking of and praying for Heather & Britney Sanford. They are some of our most treasured and loyal customers. Doug was also very supportive of K-Trails as the Animal Control Officer for the Sheriffs Department. Truly a special man and a tremendous loss for all of us in Hamilton County. Please pray for Deputy Stanford’s family and all who loved him.
