We are opening on April 30th for our SIXTH season at Strawtown Koteewi Park!
Looking for a few new staff members to join the K-Trails family.
- Must love horses.
- Must be nice (to both people and horses).
- There is ALWAYS something to do around a horse barn so if you like to stand around and do nothing, this is not a job for you.
- If you like to gossip, complain or create drama, this is not a job for you.
- We promise that you will sweat, shovel manure (lots of it actually) and get frustrated with your co-workers and probably some customers.
- We get dirty brushing horses, putting on their saddles, feeding them, walking them though mud, leading trail rides. breathing in lots of dirt, untacking all of the horses at the end of the day, and sweeping the barn constantly. You will enjoy taking a shower/bath after a day working at the barn.
- We introduce people to horseback riding and pursue good horsemanship. This is something we chase on a daily basis. If you know already know everything about horses, go somewhere else.
- We work weekends and holidays.
- We don’t get paid much but we smell like horses, work outdoors and feel good about our job.
- We love giving people their first horseback ride.
- We love the children that come for pony rides.
- We love giving families, friends and groups a unique and memorable shared experience .
- Our horses are gentle, loving and do their absolute best for our customers. We all need to be more like them.
- We serve a VERY diverse customer base. If you are a racist, xenophobe, homophobe, snob, elitist or just a hateful person, please do us both a favor and do NOT apply for a job at K-Trails.
- Special consideration is given to youth that have participated in 4H, FFA, Scouting, etc. We love to employ personable, hard working young adults 16-25 years of age. If that’s you, we can teach you about horses. We will always hire a good young person with character and an interest in animals over an entitled know it all horse kid that is used to someone else grooming and cleaning up after their horse.
- If you are over 25 years of age and want to work at K-Trails, you MUST have a unique ability to love on and encourage younger people. We operate this barn to give back to the community and to give young people a good first job. Don’t come in and be a boss. Come in and help our younger staff grow. Be willing to coach and mentor not supervise. We have REMARKABLE young adults on our staff and they are worth investing in.
- This is our sixth season. We continue to grow but many people still don’t even know where K-Trails or Strawtown Koteewi Park is. We would like for you to tell people about us so we can survive.
- This is a seasonal job between April and Early November. It’s super fun but we miss each other and the horses over winter.
- We enjoy people that think differently and love people on the “Spectrum”. Our life is better with these gifted people in it. Once again… snobs and elitist types need not apply.
- The owners are Christ followers. You do not need to be a Christian, but you do need to understand that they pray for their employees and pray over the business. They try their best to use the Bible as their guide when it comes to personnel issues, financial stewardship and pretty much everything else. But they will not preach to you or pressure you EVER. To them everyone is on their own spiritual journey and the more you are around horses and nature, the closer you will be to understanding that there is indeed a creator and there is a purpose for your life.
- If after reading all of this, you are still interested in a job at K-Trails, please email a paragraph about yourself to [email protected]. He’s the owner and general manager and can get grumpy at times but Andrew, Natalie, Shelby, Hope, Busy, Chloe, Emili, Karen and the nice John (Davis) are the ones you'll be working with on a regular basis and they are all super nice and fun to be around. Owner John Stewart will schedule a working interview to see if you can hustle, work hard and laugh like the rest of the staff.
Oh, please do not have your parents email us telling us you need a job. This is about you and your future. You can email John at [email protected]
