🚨🐴🚨Exciting News! 🚨🐴🚨
We are very excited to be part of this new equine emergency co-op please see below and we will post more information soon.
We are EXCITED to announce that we are uniting together with veterinarians from several local clinics to provide weekend and holiday emergency equine coverage through an equine emergency co-operative. This will give all of the area equine veterinarians a very WELL-DESERVED break on their off weekends. This will also ensure that you as a horse owner always have an on-call veterinarian on weekends and holidays. This will be an adjustment for everyone, especially in the beginning. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this transition. Many metro areas and equine densely populated areas have adopted this co-operative model to help retain more equine veterinarians and to ensure emergency coverage for clientele. Please pay attention to the following information so that you are prepared for emergencies and have a plan in place.
• Equine only! This emergency cooperative will not be servicing small animal emergencies or other farm animal emergencies. Please contact your regular veterinarian for other farm-animal emergencies; for small animal emergencies, we advise going to a nearby small animal emergency clinic.
• Haul-in only for weekend and holiday emergencies - this will help the on-call doctors spend their time triaging horses rather than driving and will allow a greater number of patients able to be seen. If you do not own a horse trailer, resources and contact info will be provided for local professional haulers. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for down horses and other specific situations.
• Must be a current client and patient - this is defined by having a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship; you will have to have been seen for routine care in the last 12 months to be able to participate in this program.
• Payment is due in full at the time of service - this can be in the form of cash, check, or credit card.
Definition of emergencies - emergencies to be seen on weekends and holidays will be decided on a case-by-case basis per the doctor on call. Telemedicine may be provided in some situations; fees may apply for telemedicine consultations.
More information on participating clinics and doctors will be released soon.
