DOG VIRUS UPDATE : follow up from my first post.

I wish I had more and useful information to post. It is very hard to get real facts and verified information. But I can at least answer some questions I’ve been asked. I don’t think any one has definite answers at this point But here’s answers to most commonly asked questions;

We have not seen it in our shop or any local shops that we are aware of. I know all my fellow shops are cleaning and doing all they can also.
Groomers are familiar with fighting airborne viruses. This is not new to us. We already have some we constantly have to prevent like kennel cough.
We are checking dogs for symptoms and will not admit any showing symptoms. Those being cough, vomiting and or diarrhea to name some.
We are implementing even extra cleaning procedures and cleaners on top of the abundance we already do.
Please be patient with the groomers and duration of groom. Extra cleaning takes extra time. We are trying to do the best we can for you and your dog.
We have heard there are a few cases in central Indiana but it is hard to separate the gossip/panic from the proven facts. I am personally not going to take part in panic. We will follow what we know to be true. Not gossip. This gossip can seriously hurt businesses that people have worked hard for many years to build. And no groomer wants to expose any dog to risk. So we will deal in facts.

If you do have your dog groomed in our shop or any shop, please pickup your dog as soon upon completion of groom as possible to limit your dogs exposure. We are cleaning alot, taking time but when done, please pickup. This will help.
Do not expose your dog to any places you do not have to.
If your cancelling your appts we will respect your decision but be aware a lot of these doodle breeds need a lot of maintenance and brushing to prevent matting.
We do offer a Mobil unit but it is full until January.

I will say that with the vet medicine and abilities they have these days I have faith that vets will soon identify and vaccinate this illness. They can do so much more now more than ever.

We are all in this together and all want the same outcome. Healthy safe dogs. We love your dogs and they become our babies too. We want them safe and healthy too.

Dear Adorable Grooming Friends,

We are writing this to address this “Mystery Dog Illness” that has currently been sweeping national news and media headlines over the last week. This was mentioned on Good Morning America November 15th, 2023 with not much information regarding the illness. We want to let all of you know that we are taking every precaution in order to keep this out of our shop. We thoroughly clean all touched surfaces daily with a concentrated pet-safe solution, and have a professional deep cleaning done weekly at our facility.

Stephanie has reached out to multiple vets in our area regarding this matter and more info on it and below is what we have gathered.

What we do know:
- This is being seen more in boarding and kennel facilities than in grooming shops right now.
- The illness is airborne- therefore it is like controlling a cold outbreak in a children’s daycare.
- This is not the same as Dog-COVID.
- The symptoms are similar to those of kennel cough but, the treatments for kennel cough have not worked the same for this illness.
- In the cases we have investigated or gathered information on, dogs in decent health with not many pre-existing conditions have been recovering nicely.
- The illness is airborne therefore there will be a risk no matter how often or well we clean the equipment and surfaces.

We are trying to get in front of this the best we can with what little everyone knows. We will continue to keep ourselves and you all informed and updated as soon as we get more information. If you have any concerns about your dog being at risk we completely understand and want you to take action as needed.
