Story Time!
Did you know I grew up on a small farm, milking goats and chasing our 400 free range chickens? We also had numerous other animals too, but these particular animals made the biggest difference in my life. There’s nothing that will teach a kid more about responsibility than farm life. In my opinion, running around barefoot, using their imagination and creating bonds with animals is crucial.
As a child I NEVER got sick. I still believe it was because we only ate what we grew and harvested. Unpasteurized, GMO free, organic and only consuming natural sugars. Contrary to what the world believes, I had also NEVER been vaccinated for anything besides the first or second shots you receive has an infant. This is still true to this day. My bones were strong, my heart was healthy and my skin and hair were showing all the signs of a extraordinarily healthy immune system.
After our farm dwindled, I started getting sick. Seasonal colds weren’t normal for me. I had never had the flu (I still haven’t), I also never had trouble eating or being mobile. In the past several years, I have had a few major health issues. One particular illness caused me to stop eating and constantly sleep. I would survive off of 1-2 meals a week and couldn’t stay awake for more than 2 hours. I was also forced to drop out of high school due to the schools inability to understand my condition. Truancy officers, police and child protective service were constantly knocking at my door. They threatened my single mother with jail time if I didn’t go back to school. So, I dropped out.
Oddly enough, after visiting 6 specialty doctors and months of waiting, no one could fix me. Two doctors said I had cancer, others said I was faking it. Only one person diagnosed me and saved my life after seeing me for 2 hours. She even let me nap in her office because my body literally could not stay awake. This person is a homeopathic doctor. No man made medicine, no more blood analysis or IVs in my arms. Just natures perfect concoction!
To this day, I still have trouble eating, or even remembering to eat. Sometimes I’ll go days without food and hear it from my fiancé when he finally notices. All my illnesses were ultimately resolved, but after the homeopathic doctor explaining that I would’ve only had 6 months left to live and my body was in such disarray, I decided to stop, reevaluate and restart the farm.
Now, along side my business of taking care of others animals, I too have my own farm. It’s small, but it’s growing fast!
My fiancé and I are still vigorously hunting for our forever property. Once we find it, we’ve decided to let our dreams reveal themselves. We’ll transport our current animals, then add to the farm. We’re thinking every land animal we can get our hands on, fruit trees and berry bushes, a giant garden, waterfowl, plenty of hunting land and of course, a pond or other water source with fish.
Somehow, in the madness of my life, I’ve still held at least two jobs at once, besides taking a much needed break right before my life being saved. I tried taking my GED, but bills started stacking up. Once I wasn’t able to pay for dog food, I quit. Now that the pressure of family and complete strangers telling me I NEED to get my GED have subsided, and the constant chant of “your life will be nothing without a diploma” have also ceased, I’m more inclined to try it again. In fact, my fiancé and I plan to complete it together!
The moral of my story is to look closely into what actually matters. Your food, your environment, your doctors and your all around nutrition. Vitamins won’t make a difference without the right nutrition to back it up. Try growing your own food and raising your own meat. Or buy from your local farmers, just make sure you ask how it’s grown/ raised. Yes, it’s more expensive, but you pay for what you get. Check your feed, grass sprays (maybe even your neighbors sprays too), even check your water supply. I’m no preacher, I’ve just lived through hell. I would never wish that on anyone!
Don’t spend money on unhealthy food, because I promise , the end result isn’t worth it. Oh and, try homeopathy some time. There’s something for everyone!
Anyway, this is the end of my story.
