Is that a cute little chicken in my house? Why yes it is! Introducing Feathers… on Monday evening a friend reached out to us about a chicken that someone had found wandering around the neighborhood in the snow. A very nice family took her in out of the snow and tried to find the owners but no luck. So yesterday we went and picked her up. Feathers is an extremely cute little bantam hen (like a miniature chicken). For now she is living in my house but she needed a friend, so we brought Noel inside to stay with her. Noel is our smallest chicken and is very sweet. Welcome to the flock Feathers!!

First snow of 2025! The animals are all warm and dry. The ponies are enjoying the view while listening to music in their barn. The chickens and ducks don’t want to leave their warm coops. Thankful for the girls who are trudging through the snow with me!

Great article and certainly highlights the importance of media coverage, or for SWVA, lack thereof. However, it fails to mention that all it required was a post requesting assistance for our very own farmers within Virginia, to forming connections with many I wouldn’t be blessed to know today, and an amazing outpouring of support and donations.
Cozy Acres Farm has delivered hay to SWVA on three separate occasions and in constant contact asking what more can they do to assist.
I’m beyond proud and extremely blessed to be a small part of the farming community that is showing up in great strides for their own.

With that, I would be amiss to not include that SWVA has a long road ahead. Their homes, barns, fencing, livestock have literally been washed away but they have shown their humble resilience, constantly saying, “my neighbor needs it more”. It’s past time these SWVA farmers and residents feel the love and support of this great Commonwealth, in its entirety.

Here is what is needed-
Livestock hay- estimated 6,000 round bales
Transport
Volunteers for cleanup
Volunteers for fence installation
