I have been so busy with school and work that I never got to formally introduce my first ever buck!! Well 1/6 of a buck I am a part of The Whiskey Guild! He was at my house for a few days to cover a doe and I got some pictures of him being cute! I’m so happy to have this opportunity and such an amazing group of goat friends!!

Last year I got a lot of goats and never introduced them so I’m going to give each of the girls their own post. I’ll be starting off with Maple! (Amores Farm Maple, VGEV87)

While she may lack in quantity of milk it sure is quality!! (this year she had a single buck) So far this lactation her average butter fat is 8.5% and one of her tests was a 9.67%. She also has to be one of the happiest does in the barn, she stands at the gate with her tail violently wagging until it’s her turn to be milked, then when she gets up on the stand she stands there tapping her leg, wagging her tail and smelling the grain, until I touch her udder then she allows herself to eat. Not sure why she does this but it’s the cutest thing. She always has a little smirk on her face, because she knows she a pretty awesome doe! 🩷

Serama future breeding pair available (frizzle hen and smooth roo)! Born early July. These guys should stay under or at about a pound. Seramas are typically laid back easy going birds that love to be loved on. The roosters personality is calm and his father and brothers are the best boys ever.

Day 5 ✅
Better late than never. Milkers in the morning and I only had Callie. This was likely her last ever time in the show ring and I’m glad that she got to go out on a bang! She did not make the cut but she was perfect (typical) and I’m glad that it was at nationals. After a long morning of showing we milked out and headed to a little BBQ place that shared the parking lot to our AirBnB. We got back to the house and all passed out for 2-3 hours!

Day 6 ✅
A nice morning spent sleeping in and relaxing at the house we headed out to the show barn to milk and then we went to the wine and cheese event, colorama sale and raffle basket drawings. No one from our group did any bidding or won any raffle baskets, but watching the sale was really cool. Then after looking at the temps for tomorrow we made the last minute decision to drive overnight. We got the everything packed up (at the barn and AirBnB in about two hours. It’s very bitter sweet heading home but I miss all my animals at home. Overall very happy with my first national show, can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Day 4 ✅
Junior show was today at 4pm and the girls did great! Amores Farm Zip your Lip and Hidden Hills were in the junior class and did not make the cut, Lazy Mare Soup of the Day also did not make the cut in her intermediate class of 72, Amores Farms Cleopatra also did not make the cut but Amores Farm Yumi Sunshine did! Not only did she make the cut but she got 6th and was shown by Lazaro Amores! I couldn’t be happier!! She got some much deserved treats and lovings! My very first nationals and I can’t believe I’m coming home with a ribbon! One milker left to show tomorrow and then we’re done! Super fun day!

Day 3 ✅
Had a very relaxing morning at the Air BnB then headed over to the barn for in the late morning. We went on a (unsuccessful) quest for orange gatorade powder but we got some good stuff that did the trick. I took the yearlings out on the flexi leashes for a nice frolic and leg stretch out in the sun that quickly turned into running and bucking. Also did some shopping at Snydell and got feeders for home/shows and a collapsible milk stand! No more dragging my wooden ones out or bumming off others! The anticipation is rapidly building for juniors tomorrow at 4 pm!! 🤩

Day 2 ✅
First time ever doing doing showmanship and I would say it went pretty well. Also my first time showing a standard sized goat and it made me appreciate my nigerians so much more! Amores Farm Cleopatra was a rockstar with having to do such a long class and getting switched to a different handler. I have never seen Cleo stacked up in a show setting so it was really cool getting to see her looking so good! Overall it was pretty fun!

Thank you Slidewater Ranch and Hidden HIlls Nigerian Dairy Goats for taking pictures and sitting through 3 hours of showmanship! Y’all were troopers!

Day one ✅ Girls are settled and happy to be off the trailer and have some solid ground under their hooves. Everyone handled the long trip quite well.
