These last 24 hours have been the toughest 24 hours I think I’ve had. Our beloved Nellie passed away last night while snuggling with Diane. We are not 100% certain what actually went wrong, but we know she had a liver infection that didn’t resolve. It was hard to see her decline over the past 2 weeks or so, but we know she’s digging holes on the other side of the rainbow road.

Nellie was the Kickstarter for Ultimutt Toys. When we rescued her 10 years ago we had no idea what we were doing. I would yell at her for peeing in the House, instead of listening to her needs. We started to try and figure out the training aspect, but we didn’t know what we were doing, so we went to what we thought was the right thing as it was all we heard about, Cesar Milan. Boy were we wrong. We started going to our local zoom room, where Nellie excelled and earned her canine good citizen certification. When we did something wrong, Nellie would just go with it as she knew we were trying our best. Eventually, Diane got more into the behavior side and Nellie was right there with her learning and supporting her. Nellie picked up everything Diane taught her, and was the perfect training dog, as long as she had some snacks!

Nellie was the expert for all product testing, as she could figure everything out, but always wanted to have fun doing it! She loved a good beer, a good snuggle and a good dig.

Nellie became Diane’s best friend, and could read the both of us better then we could read each other or ourselves. Nellie always knew when we needed a kiss, walk, just a good snuggle. She was the perfect dog for us!

Nellie, I love you, miss you, and know you’re having fun digging on the other side of the rainbow road. You lived the best life you could and taught us to live as well! Thank you
