Veterinary care is as specific to the pet as medical care is to humans. That's why annual exams are so important! Nebraska requires a VCPR, or veterinary-client-patient relationship, in order for a veterinarian to provide care for a pet. To establish that relationship, we require pets to be seen for an annual check-up/wellness exam. If your email address is on file, you can access the pet portal via our website to check your pet's records or make an appointment. We are booked out 30 days for annual exams/vaccine appointments so make your appointment today if your pet is due!

Does your pet need a nail trim, glands expressed, a heartworm test, allergy shot, or a simple Bordetella booster? Book a tech appointment! If we've seen your pet in the last year, a rabies vaccine can also be done in a tech appointment by a veterinarian.* Our skilled technicians can take care of you, generally in 20 minutes or less! We have several appointments open on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Give us a call!

*A distemper vaccine requires a doctor's exam and has to be scheduled as such. If it has been more than a year since a pet has been seen, a rabies or Bordetella shot also requires a doctor's exam and cannot be scheduled as a tech appointment.

We have heard from many clients that ticks are awful this year. Despite what felt like endless snow days, our winter was relatively mild. Ticks are out in full force. Flea/tick preventatives are prescriptions. If your pet has been seen within the past year, no problem! It's been a bit longer? Contact us to set up an exam.

Today we celebrate World Veterinary Day!

Companion animal veterinarians and their team members regularly work 65+ hours per week taking care of our pets and animal community—in the clinic, completing records and notes, and continuing their education and training. From routine vaccination appointments to after hours emergencies, our veterinary professionals pour their hearts and talents into making sure our furry families are well cared for.

Veterinary professionals do so much more than take care of pets. They are public health stewards, educating us on the importance of preventative flea, tick, and heartworm/hookworm/groundworm treatments, which help prevent diseases in humans such as Lyme disease, tularemia, and the plague. The efforts of veterinarians have reduced the risk of rabies significantly in countries that require vaccinations, such as the US.

Thank you to the entire veterinary community, and especially our CAVC team, for being advocates for their patients, educators of our clients, and guardians of public health. 🐶😻🐾❤️

'Tis the season for thunderstorms and increased anxiety in pets. Jennifer (Jen) Spulak is our longest serving licensed vet tech at 3 1/2 years. She says, "I love being an advocate for those who don't really have a voice." She loves all animals but is especially fond of our geriatric patients. She loves the nursing care that comes with surgeries and dentals so she is often found in the treatment room or assisting the doctors with surgery. When not at the clinic, Jen likes to spend time with her husband and two boys camping, reading and tending to her chickens. Thanks for all you do, Jen!!

Establishing consistent veterinary care is an important part of maintaining your pet’s health. Although your pet may look healthy, diseases often cause no obvious signs in their early stages. Pets instinctively hide signs of pain and illness so you may not know your pet is in need of medical attention.
