We're looking for someone with experience as a dog trainer who practices Reward-Based Training. Knowledge and experience with a variety of breeds and temperaments necessary. Familiarity with learning theory a plus. Behavior experience and Rescue experience a plus.

Applicant must love and have a natural affinity for dogs, live in or near the communities Leashrly Life serves, and be a team player who love helping people and their pets.

The ability to board at least one dog in home for 14-days at a time should a client request residential training is a plus.

Position structure, scheduling, and pay assessed according to level of experience. Candidates need a flexible schedule and availability during evenings and weekends.

Requirements:
Professional Dog Training: 1-year minimum
Driver’s License

Training dogs to perform basic obedience commands in your home or clients’ homes

Supervising dogs during play sessions

🔈Deer Hunting Season Starts Tomorrow🔈

Monday, December 2nd is the start of the shotgun season for whitetail deer. The season runs till December 14th.

Hunting hours begin a half hour before sunrise and end a half hour after sunset.

Hunting with a shotgun is allowed on private property with land owner permission and on properties owned by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Hunters must wear 500 square inches of blaze orange on the chest, back, and head.

During this time it is recommend that those partaking in outdoor activities wear some sort of hi-vis clothing, with blaze orange the best option.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for training and caring for dogs in private sessions and/or group classes.

SKILLS:
* Ability to teach a dog basic obedience commands such as walking on a loose leash, heel, sit, down, place, come, no jumping on people, and stay

* Demonstrate Advanced Obedience skills

* Utilize various dog training tools such as clickers, marker words, proper food reinforcement, Easy Walk Harness, Gentle Leader, Halti, prong collar, E-Collar, and muzzle

Advancement opportunities available for the right candidate.

Training dogs to perform basic obedience commands in your home or clients’ homes
Supervising dogs during play sessions
Assisting and advising clients regarding care for dog’s health, exercise, and emotional well-being
Providing outstanding customer service and advice to client

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Must be able to hold a leash and control a dog that pulls and weighs up to 120 pounds

* Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk a dog, and be comfortable training outdoors and in various weather conditions

Job Type: Part-time

Leashrly Life offers professional dog training, dog walking, and pet sitting services to Norfolk and surrounding towns. We have been in business for 10 years and offer customized, personalized service, treating your pet like a member of the family.

Owner Angela Wilcox I’m so happy to be able to provide a valuable service to our customers and at the same time fulfill a life long passion of mine. I founded Leashrly Life 10 years ago in the hopes of making a difference in the lives of people and animals. I wanted to use my passions in my everyday life. I didn’t just want to make a living, I wanted to feel good about how I was spending my day and making a difference in the world. A lifelong love of animals and the need to bring creativity to my work brought me to pursuing a pet-sitting business and a dog-training career while continuing to work at my existing marketing and life coaching businesses. For the past 20+ years, I’ve worked in marketing and advertising. My other business, AMW Marketing, offers affordable, comprehensive marketing services to all types of businesses. However, my favorite work is training dogs. I truly enjoy working one-on-one with owners to teach them how to become leaders in their dog’s eyes. The satisfaction I get when I hear clients say how much better their relationship is with their pet and how well-behaved their dog is since they began working with me is unmatched by anything else I’ve ever done! When I’m not working, I love spending time outside with my own little pup. I’m the proud owner of a 12-year-old mixed breed named Maizie. She is the love of my life and I could not imagine a world without her. In my spare time, I enjoy riding my Harley, hiking in the woods, cooking, figure skating, snow shoeing, horseback riding, jewelry making, drawing, journaling, spending time on the beach, traveling and, most of all, hanging out with friends and family.
