We will have limited hours on Saturday, 17-Feb, CLOSING AT 10:30 AM, as we prepare to open our Granby Vet location on Monday.

**All appointments and Rx pick-ups will be at Granby Veterinary Hospital, 3415 Granby St., starting on February 19th**. Granby Vet is on the corner of 35th and Granby and across the street from Lafayette Park.

Granby Vet is 100% staffed with the dedicated professionals from Ghent Vet, and we remain Norfolk's locally owned and operated veterinary establishment. Our goal is that the only notable differences (other than the physical location) will be the upgraded facilities and additional touches to make you and your pets as comfortable as possible.

Pets on wellness plans will be unaffected, as the services and prevention available through your plans can be utilized at our new location. We will not be staffing the 21st Street Ghent Vet location for several weeks so we can refresh some of the interior space and allow our team to acclimate to the new hospital.

You can continue using all existing communication methods (email, phone/text, and PetDesk).

We look forward to sharing our new hospital with you and continuing to provide the best care in a comforting environment. Please feel free to stop by anytime and we will be pleased to give you a tour!

for Brewer!🐾 His first visit with us was in January 2018 for his puppy visit at 10 weeks old. Now he is 6 years old and though he shows a majestic composed demeanor in his photo, he is still quite the energetic puppy💕

Happy Friday everyone! We're giving Digger and Dino a big shoutout for being our ! Here are some fun facts their owner shared with us about these sweet silly boys.💕

🐾What are your pets favorite treats, toys, etc.?
They love anything that even resembles food. We love anything that makes their breath better. Digger loves squeaky tennis balls. Dino's favorite is usually whatever Digger has in his mouth.

🐾What are your pet's favorite activities?
They love to take walks. That is, walking us around Colonial place or long hikes in the woods. They especially love opportunities to play in the river or puddles, but they do not like baths afterwards.

🐾If you chose the name of your pet, why? Please explain.
Both were local shelter rescues with silly names. Digger's first name was Diglet and we wanted to keep it similar in sound. Digger does love to dig but usually into our sofa more than outside in the dirt. Dino was originally Keno and that is not our favorite gambling game so we switched him to Dino (the Flinstones’ dog) We like the alliteration.

🐾Do they know or like performing any tricks? They will sit and stay for food. Even shake paw if asked. Sometimes Beth can get them to lay down. Dino still likes to chase his tail. And Digger likes to try to speak human words.

🐾Any interesting facts or information about your pet you'd like to share?
They are obnoxious but total loves. Absolute hedonists. It's all about them!!!

As you may be aware, Ghent Vet is one of the few privately owned and operated veterinary establishments remaining in the 757. We would like to give a big thank you💖 to the Norfolk Department of Development for advocating programs that allow small businesses such as ours to thrive in Norfolk💪. We are honored to be recent recipients of a CAP Grant as we build our new facility on Granby/35th! This new location - Granby Vet - will strengthen our commitment to providing the best veterinary care in a low stress environment for our clients and patients.

This is Max! He has been coming to us regularly for a**l gland expressions. Max, like many others, is not fond of his expressions, so he's needed some additional medication support to get through them. Well today we made a break through with Max and he showed another level of comfort with us and his owner while having this service done. We just wanted to give Max a big shout out to appreciate all his hard work. Thank you Max for being such a good boy!😁🐾

Did you know guinea pigs have an odd number of toes? They have 4 toes on their front feet and 3 toes on their back ones. And they require trimming like our dog and cat friends! Gretel here enjoyed his nail trim very much💕
