🐾 Meet Mary Jo: 740 Days and Counting - She Needs a Home 🐾
Mary Jo aka MJ has been waiting for a loving home for 740 days—that's over two years of patience, hope, and longing. At just 4 1/2 years old, this sweet girl has so much love to give, and she deserves to finally find her forever family.
Mary Jo was adopted by a family earlier this year, but due to a move, they had to return her to the shelter just 3 months later—through no fault of her own. Now, she’s back at the shelter, and we need YOUR help to get her into a home where she can be loved and cherished.
🐕 Her Ideal Home:
• MJ would thrive in a home where she is the ONLY pet. She has some issues with other animals, and it’s best for her to be the center of attention.
• She can be okay with other dogs at times but will snap when she’s uncomfortable, so it's important for her to have a home where she can be the one and only.
💔 A Sweet Girl Deserves a Second Chance
Mary Jo is a loyal, loving companion who just needs the right person or family to give her a chance. She’s been through a lot, and we know there’s someone out there who will adore her just the way she is.

$5 Friday: A story of Hope and Rescue 🐾
Meet Tank, a 10-year-old yellow lab with a heart as big as his name. Tank’s journey has been anything but easy, but thanks to compassionate hearts like yours, his story isn’t over yet.
Tank was found wandering as a stray, his body thin and his tail injured. After some detective work, we traced his microchip back to his owner — and that’s where we learned the heartbreaking truth.
Tank’s mom adopted him from a local shelter two years ago, despite his chronic wounds and "happy tail" injury. She gave him a loving home and cared for him as best she could. But life can be unpredictable, and after falling on hard times and being evicted, she found herself unable to provide the care Tank so desperately needed.
With tears in her eyes and love in her heart, she made the incredibly selfless decision to surrender Tank to us — knowing we could give him the medical care and second chance he deserves.
Since coming into our care, Tank has started his refeeding journey to safely regain weight. He’s on medication to help his aching joints and treat painful skin infections. And thanks to your support, he was able to undergo lifesaving tail amputation surgery to ease his chronic pain.
This is what $5 Friday is all about — turning small acts of kindness into life-changing moments for animals like Tank. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us provide food, medicine, surgeries, and hope to animals who need us the most.

❤️🐶🐱We have so much to be grateful for at the Norfolk SPCA! This week, we’re celebrating some amazing people who make a difference in the lives of our animals:

🐾 Care A Lot Pet Supply once again dropped off generous donations—thank you for your kindness!
🐾 Norfolk Collegiate students volunteered throughout the shelter, making a huge impact!
🐾 A special shoutout to our young volunteer from Ghent Elementary, who visits 2-3 times a week with her grandfather to snuggle our cats and spread love.
🐾 And an extra-big thank you to Shannon Goldman, our rock star groomer, who has lovingly groomed over 50 dogs for our shelter—she never says no!

We are beyond grateful for all our volunteers. Your support makes everything we do possible! ❤️🐶🐱
