DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR PET MAY BE ALLERGIC TO THEIR BED??
If you wash your pet blankets and beds using popular fabric softeners and dryer sheets, that “just washed” fresh smell comes from chemicals called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that can negatively impact your pets’ health (coughing, rashy, itchy pets, anyone?). Some laundry detergents can also generate an allergic response, so look for unscented detergents that are free from dyes and perfumes to wash anything your pet sleeps on.
Replace chemical-laden fabric softeners with a non-toxic DIY option!
Recipe: Mix 6 cups white vinegar with 1 cup baking soda, let it fizz. When the fizz stops, pour mixture into a large glass container with a lid. Use 1 cup per load of laundry.

Has anyone else noticed the increase in ads for “fresh” dog food? These ads are emotional and convincing, but does the marketing live up to the reality? The ingredients in these foods are certainly better than the majority of pet foods, but probably not as good as the commercials would lead you to believe.
• They contain a significant amount of carbohydrates – potatoes, rice, lentils etc. Remember that dogs have zero nutritional need for carbohydrates
• They use synthetic vitamins and minerals to meet nutrition standards, instead of getting it from the whole, real food.
• Are they spending more on marketing than nutrition?
• They are expensive! There are better options that cost less.
These foods are not terrible – but before buying into the hype (or the hefty price tag), do your homework. Your dog deserves more than just good marketing 🐾
