BeGee
BeGee working! We did flag work for the first time today (was terrified) and we did decent for our first go!
Been missing the saddle a bit 💪
If you haven’t noticed I’ve been pretty MIA, especially with Handsome Ransom.
I just got out of a big burnout and frankly we haven’t been making too much progress ever since the whole halter breaking incident. At this point I haven’t got a clue if we’ll make it to our competition but I’ve decided that if we make it, we make it. If we don’t, no biggie. I still get the chance to learn from this horse.
Ransom isn’t the horse I wanted for the competition this year but he’s dang sure the horse I needed. I’ve really really enjoyed learning from him and I think my other horses are glad he’s whipping me into shape too. This past year I’ve grown a lot in my horsemenship journey and there’s never to much to learn.
Saddle Up Horsemanship has helped me a ton with Ransom and I’m learning SO much from them. Yesterday, despite the absolute mud pit of his pen, we started some following techniques to help build trust and more of a partnership. Here’s how day two of it is going 💪
Also, isn’t he looking great? I started Ransom, Scout & Gus on the 100X Equine supplements that were donated to Waymaker’s Wild2Willing TIP Challenge competitors and wowza! All the geldings are feeling great and looking great.
Life update on the rest of the herd 👇👇
Scout got diagnosed with arthritis in his stifles & hocks which were causing some major issues with his back. He’s feelings tons better!
Gus is still available for reassignment, he’s been on the back burner while I focus on Luna, Ransom & Scout but he’s doing and feeling great.
Black cat good luck?
Off to Nationals next!!
Standing relaxed and loosely tied while brushing & picking out her feet.
Touching near her HQ was a big deal back in January but that slowly went away. She’s moving along slowly but steady. Can’t wait till she’s all slicked out this summer and looking good 🤩
Ransom updates from home!
My Dad and him are becoming friends 😂 maybe Mr. Scott can get a halter on him

One thing I have always said is that I want to be honest with Social Media. I want people to follow my page and my horse’s journeys knowing it is not only the good but the bad as well. I see a lot of people on social media just sharing the good and the wins instead of the wins and the loses. I haven’t been posting very much on #8813’s journey lately because progress has been slow. He has been a tough one for me. He’s humbled me and then taught me. He has weaseled his way into my little list of favorite horses to work with. His personality resembles Luna Mae a lot, he’s sensitive and very in tune with everything I do. This horse has tested my discipline, my body language, my knowledge and has helped me work on my release timing. He’s started following me around the pen now. He’s very motivated to work and always looking for an answer. I think he’ll make a cool liberty horse one day

And with all of that, I finally finally picked out a name for this awesome dude. He has officially gotten the title for the horse that has gone the longest without a name in my herd.
No longer known as just the number #8813, everyone please offically welcome Ransom to the herd 🥰

Ransom will be available following the competition!
For a bit now me and Luna Mae have been working on “mirroring gaits” and we’ve got the walk & trot down (adding this in because 8813 is trying to eat my phone and posted it before I was done rambling). We started working on the canter about a month ago and she’s been in and out of consistent work so I’m pretty proud of her picking it up in just a few steps. This mare might be small but she makes up for it in heart. I pulled her out for a quick session after getting chores done and getting all my other horses worked. I warmed her up then wanted to see if she’d be good off line. Didn’g expect much but we got a few wins 🙌
I plan on entering her in some ILHA virtual liberty classes this year (the fit’s one is in 2 weeks) so we’re preparing for those! Maybe I’ll see what Gus can do in some of the novice ones! If I do end up entering, I’ll post my classes on my YouTube! (Oh! I’m working on #8813’s two week update. So be on the lookout for that in the next few days. I have so much for respect for anyone who has a YouTube routine, it is HARD 😂)
I was getting way excited because I thought I’d be able to take him out of his pen tomorrow but I got humbled real quick. Watching the video back I realized I didn’t release and reward for a step and since this guy is so intune with everything I do he went to look for another answer or a way out. I say this all the time but I’ll say it again. Horse training isn’t all wins. It’s not this glorious thing. Sure, I think it’s awesome and I love every bit of it but there are moments when we fail. Anyways, he slipped and fell and then got part of his halter over one ear. He lost a lot of confidence in me but I’m going to try and loosen the halter enough to get it back on so we can get back to leading.
But some wins! We worked on backing and he was really starting to understand leading! This dude is so fun to work with!!
Excuse the pen.. and even though you can’t see them my “mustang gentling in the rain” sweatpants.
This is BIG progress from yesterday. Yesterday I pretty much just sat in his pen for a few hours and he chilled out next to me and munched on some hay as we both his from the rain 😂
Walked into his pen today and met a whole new horse. He’s letting touch all over his face comfortably and approaching me calmly. Figured out that he has not one but TWO whorls. woah. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be able to get a lead rope on him! And hopefully my arena dries up 😂
Still no name… poor dude. For now I’m calling him dude and kid and bruh (maybe I’m spending too much time at school?)
He’s weaseling his way into my favorite horse list slowly but surely (all of mine are in my favorites list. Whoops.)
Tag 8813 will be available following his competition in mid June! Message me if you have any questions!
