Large breed dogs with deep, narrow chests are at higher risk of bloat, also known as gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV). When a dog bloats, its stomach twists and fills with gas, which can cut off blood supply to the stomach and spleen. Bloat commonly happens when a dog ingests large amounts of food or water too quickly. Know the warning signs and be prepared in case of an emergency.
