I would like to give sincere thanks and gratitude to each and everyone that has been by my side near, and far for helping me through the most difficult times in my life.
Never once did I think that a simple routine day surgery for a 5-year colon screening could my turn my whole life devastatingly upside down. It was a surgery gone completely wrong, and nearly cost me my life. I will never forget the moment the surgeon came in to the ER and said if you do not have this surgery, you are going to die. I was terrified.
I am so blessed for God, family, and friends and the most amazing community to come together after hearing and knowing what I had gone through and what I will continue to have to go through.
To my children Brandon, Shania and Emily, God has Blessed me with the most incredible, loving, and supportive family which has been there by my side to do whatever it takes to be there for me.
While I was in post op from having undergone emergency surgery, I was unaware my daughter Shania had immediately jumped in and created a GoFundMe. Shania knew I was going to need to accept help for what was going to come post surgery, but most importantly knew that I was going to need an endless amount of prayers…I know God led her to take charge of what she had control of.
I learned a valuable lesson from all of what has transpired from that terrible day. One can never depend on only one’s self. Pride can surely get in the way of one’s thinking that you can handle things on your own. This experience has given me perspective of the meaning “it takes a village to get through the good times and the bad for each other”. I’ve never been one to ask for help, having always struggled being stubbornly independent. God has lovingly blessed me with his Grace, Faith and Love, for which has taught me that we truly need one another. I’ve always been so grateful for the life that I’ve been given but this experience really opened my eyes to be even that much more grateful.
I do not know what the future holds, but what I do know is how blessed I am for God, my family, my friends, my community and even those I don’t know, which have been so supportive for my family and I. I truly cannot thank each and everyone of you enough. I send my love to you all., God Bless you all.
