I think it's safe to say the osteopathy (Ayla Wyld) and cellsonic treatments have been successful for Nashiq in his journey to physical wellness. He's also had the best nutrition possible, thanks to StableFeed , the best dentistry, thanks to Cynthia Niemela and Jamie Meaghar, the best hoof care, thanks to Arthur Niemela , and the best energetic emotional care thanks to Kim The Brain Healer. Ponied him out on his first trail ride yesterday and he was perfect. Will ride out on the trail Monday. I believed it was possible from the moment I laid eyes on him. I didn't see what others saw as brokenness and problems. I only saw the horse he was going to become. I love him so much. So much courage. Videos to come.

It's been a great couple of days for Nashiq. Yesterday he "helped" with Sutton's lesson and then rode on the property for the first time. No problem. Today he was treated to osteopathy and cellsonic. He's very communicative about what he's feeling. Lots of release during both, especially the Cellsonic.

How would you like to really dive in and deal with past trauma (mental, physical, emotional), compensations and even old injuries, with your equine partner by your side every step of the way? Watch your partnership bloom ❤️

Some champions are bred for greatness. Others are bought for glory.

Exterminator was bought as a joke.

No one believed in him. He wasn’t supposed to be a star. He was too big, too awkward, too ordinary. They called him "the Goat" because of his gangly frame and long legs.

But by the time he was done, he was one of the greatest racehorses of all time.

An Unwanted Champion

Exterminator was never supposed to run in the 1918 Kentucky Derby. He was purchased as a mere training partner for the real star of the stable, Sun Briar, a flashy, well-bred c**t expected to dominate.

But fate had other plans.

Sun Briar got injured just before the Derby. His owner, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, was desperate. He had no choice but to run Exterminator, a horse he had never even wanted to race.

It was supposed to be a lost cause.

Then the gates flew open.

A Derby for the Ages

The 1918 Kentucky Derby was a battlefield. The best c**ts in the country charged out of the gate, fighting for position. No one paid attention to Exterminator.

Until he started passing them.

The long-legged underdog surged forward, eating up the track like he had been waiting his whole life for this moment. As the finish line approached, he blew past the favorites, winning by a clear length.

The crowd erupted. The horse nobody believed in had just won America’s greatest race.

A Career That Never Ended

For most Kentucky Derby winners, the story ends there. A few more wins, then off to retirement.

Not for Exterminator.

He didn’t just win the Derby—he won for years.

He raced 99 times. He won 50 of those races. He carried insane amounts of weight, often giving his rivals a 30-pound handicap and still leaving them in the dust.

It didn’t matter how heavy the load was. Exterminator never quit.

The Warhorse of the People

Fans adored him. He wasn’t a pretty horse, but he was tough, honest, and unstoppable. They called him "Old Bones", a tribute to his lanky frame and relentless spirit.

He ran against the best. He beat champions. He traveled the country, conquering every track. He raced until he was nine years old, a warrior who refused to slow down.

The Legacy of a Fighter

Exterminator retired as one of the richest horses of his era. But he never forgot his fighting spirit.

He spent his final years with his best friend—a little pony named Peanuts, who never left his side. Fans still visited, bringing treats, hoping to catch a glimpse of the great warhorse.

And when he passed, he wasn’t just remembered as a champion—he was remembered as a legend.

Because Exterminator didn’t need fancy breeding or flashy looks. He had heart.

And that made him one of the greatest racehorses to ever live.

We learn while we play. Uhtred's new found confidence with the tarp took a sabbatical yesterday. In the past I would have attributed it to him. I know that I was struggling with my inner peace yesterday and, as always, he was a reflection of that. We still enjoyed some play with friends 🙂

I decided to try knotless rope halters. Traditionally, knotted halters are used to apply pressure to sensitive nerve areas on the horse's face, which is essentially for control. If the horse "behaves" then no problem. I do wonder though, if the knots may be a constant distraction with even slight rubbing taking the focus off of it's human partner. I've known of a very expensive source for awhile now but was not willing to pay over $100, I did a bit of digging online and found one U.S. company and one in New Zealand. They, unfortunately don't ship to the U.S. but since I was going there, I had them shipped to Joe. I tried them out the other day and was very happy with the New Zealand halters. I bought a size smaller than the horse and they fit exactly the way I want, with the lower part slightly snug in front of the jowl. Also, they are feather light. I do not like the U.S. halter, as the fit is not good and they are made from a heavier rope. My horses really seemed to like the NZ ones as well. Happy campers all around!

What do tannins do for the horse?
- In the mouth: astringent to encourage more water consumption
- Stomach: acts as an antacid, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory
- Stomach + Hind gut: hemostatic to reduce inflammation
- Anthelmintic: create an inhospitable environment for parasites
- Non-Gas producing: the higher tannin level disrupts mechanisms that create gas during digestion

Sainfoin is naturally higher in tannins to provide your horse with all of these wonderful benefits. StableFeed is the only producer/manufacturer of sainfoin forage products for horses.

ALWAYS CLEAN. ALWAYS FRESH.

Sometimes all you need is to play with a friend and then 12 seconds of magic happens. Today was the first time Uhtred was ridden over a tarp. Even walking over them online has been a huge thing for him, since before I got him. I've never pushed the issue with him, as he brings so many other amazing attributes to the table. I've just been asking him here and there and showing him how all the other horses do it. This is not my accomplishment but his alone. I feel so proud of him. Bella gets a star today for being a helper and planting herself on it a few times lol. I love this horse so much and I know Jill does too....actually everyone who meets him falls in love...just ask Gillian...and Lisa...and Karissa...and Sutton...and...

I got a pallet of Stablefeed on Thursday. 25 bags of plain and 25 bags of seasons biome blend. By Saturday ALL of the biome blend was gone!!! 😳😳😳. If you're one of my customers and reading this we'll have to chat about letting me know what you'll need at the beginning of the month. Lol, that was just crazy 🤪. As a side note, with no weight on the back of the tool cat, that pallet was the absolute max that machine could handle...50 bags at 40 lbs each!
