History of Higbie Farm Supplies Higbie's is not a relic of the past but an example of a successful third generation family business.

Each generation has offered goods and services to the customer that reflects this area's change from an economy based on agriculture to a more suburban lifestyle. Sid Higbie and Fred Harris became partners in the 1930s when they established an outlet for the local farmers. They stored the local produce before it was shipped by rail to New York City. Grandpa Harris remembers when Union Street was a

dirt road. Herds of horses would be guided to the corral located in the field south of Higbie. There they would be loaded onto box cars and shipped to New York City to be used for pulling carriages. When the train station was dismantled, Higbie's became a grain mill operation. Since 1990, Rob Harris has expanded the mill operation to include the production of wild birdseed, as well as feed for any pet imaginable, from a Labrador to a Llama. Throughout the years, Higbie's has also remained a supplier of coal and wood pellets for heating your home. Higbie has its own grass seed blends and fertilizer for the Rochester area as well as split rail fencing. However, the interior of the 1,100 square foot retail store is always changing. Every available space is maximized, yet the interior is charming and well organized. Lovely bird feeders hang from the ceiling, and the store is divided into bird, dog, horse, and rabbit aisles. Higbie's carries merchandise ranging from sensible barnyard boots to unique gift items. Higbies provides a unique old fashioned shopping experience.

Squeakers Marie is back in the building! We want to thank every single one of you who shared her “catnapping” post! We appreciate every one of you! It’s crazy to think she had almost 800 shares in less than 24 hours. We were all joking around earlier that if any one of us Higbie humans went missing, we’d only get a few shares 😂

We are so happy that she is back, where she belongs, back on the counter greeting everyone who walks in the door!

💕💕 THE UPDATE THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN WAITING FOR—— SQUEAKERS HAS BEEN LOCATED AND IS BACK IN HIGBIE POSSESION💕💕

A police report has been filed! Police have video footage and photos!

We hate to have to post this… AGAIN. But Squeakers has been STOLEN! Unfortunately this happened on Monday when we were closed, and we are unable to see plate number at this moment ( We will be on it in the morning!). Please share far and wide! We got her back once, we need to do it again! It looks to be a newer blue Subaru hatchback, with an older woman picking her up. If you recognize this car or know of who may have stolen Squeaks, please let us know! She is well loved by us, and the community, she is FAR from feral!!

We are all devastated, as she is the face of the store. We would love if she was returned to us ASAP, and would hate to have to get authorities involved, but we will do whatever it takes to get our girl back! PLEASE SHARE!!

🐣🐣 Saturday is fast approaching!!! With that being said…A couple things you should know:

🐴 pony rides are CASH or VENMO ONLY! Unfortunately they are not set up to take credit card payments.

🚗🛻🚜 parking is in the GATES ALBERT parking lot. If you do plan on shopping or getting products from the mill, our parking attendants will direct you to where you need to go.

📠 it is still business as usual for the store, so please be patient with our staff as it can be a hectic day for all of us.
