Von den Eichen Berg

Von den Eichen Berg The complete Rottweiler. von den Eichen Berg strives to represent and breed for the complete Rottweiler. The versatile breed it was intended to be.

Our focus is on using European lines with correct drive and temperament to fit the needs of all working venues. A convergence of the beautiful and powerful dog a Rottweiler should be and the drive and strength of character that the breed was originally bred for. Past offspring from our kennel have successfully competed in a wide range of venues. Our dogs are important to us. For anyone that finds

themselves in a situation where they will need to rehome one of our pups:
As a kennel, we breed Rottweilers to help better the breed as it was intended to be, and put every effort into placing them in forever homes be they pet homes, working homes, conformation homes, or any combination of that. We breed on a small scale and it is our intent in every way to not fill up the shelters. We do not breed for our pups to be passed from home to home. We do not breed our pups to be given away, sold, or dumped after leaving our kennel. However, we do understand that sometimes in life a person can find themselves in situations in which making the decision to find a new home for their pup is necessary. We understand that life can call for difficult decisions and we do sympathize with you. Please know, that if you find yourself in a situation in which you can no longer keep your pup, we ask that you contact us, the breeder, first. It is of utmost importance to us to know where and in what circumstances the pup is living. We will gladly take your pup back and find him/her a new home that best fits the age, temperament, and lifestyle the pup needs, following evaluation and any needed training. Again, It is important to us that we know where the pups are going and their wellbeing. If you know someone rehoming one of our pups, please contact us directly. We take great pride in the dogs that we produce and in our kennel. We carefully consider the bloodlines that we select to reproduce the complete Rottweiler. Please be respectful to the breeder and the long term best interests of the pup purchased from us. Please reach out to us with any concerns. Thank you,
von den Eichen Berg

10 days old.
Pedicures and lots of snuggles this morning.

Most doubled their birth weight a couple of days ago and are little piggies.

They are now chewing on fingers, giving kisses, and growling at mom for washing faces. They are also on all 4's racing across the whelping box and Blue is putting his head up on the rail looking for new territory..

Eyes are getting ready to open!

Day 2 looking a lot like day one.

In training to pose for pics. Puppies 6 trainer zero. If not eating they are thinking about eating.
Pink- loud, sassy, and pushy
Burgandy- busy and in a hurry for her next meal, determined
Green-much like sister above with a little of Pink's sassy "lip"
Blue- an ox, an adventurer, independent, very adaptable
White- snuggles when full, a bit pissy when hungry
Orange- beautiful boy, busy, will snuggle when absolutely full otherwise pissy about being held while wanting his food.

One day old.

This is a repeat on the litter that is 20 months old and will be Ottake's last litter. The 20-month-old adolescents are proving to be what I had hoped for in this cross when I imported Ottake from France.
They are really very balanced:
~great sport dog prospects for a wide variety of dog sports from bite sports to nose work to barn hunt to......
~balanced drives
~clear headed
~striking to look at even at this stage in their lives
~great family dogs that are social and show a great knack for understanding who to be more careful around
~very biddable
~great sense of fun and play.
several of the litter already have titles including RATN, BH, CGC, TPAT, UPAT, several are beginning their journey in IGP.

If a PRONG COLLAR means the owner could walk their dog everyday, why would you be against it?

If the E COLLAR means the dog will be able to have a better recall, why would you be against it?

If CRATING a dog means it wont destroy the owners house when they're not home, why would you be against it?

If a 2 second CORRECTION could make the difference between a dog swallowing something it's not supposed to and possibly dying, why would you be against it?

We all just want to make a owner and dog's life better. So stop knocking people struggling with their dog for being open to all options.

Keep your options open. It's what's best for the dog. Isn't that what you want?

According to "The Effect of Neuter Status on Longevity in the Rottweiler Dog", the findings of the current study suggest that neutering prior to 4.5 years of age has a negative impact on lifespan in the Rottweiler breed. Further research to establish reasons for this finding is warranted. In addition, similar studies on different breeds of dogs may clarify whether this effect is unique to this particular breed. Due to the limited sample size for dogs neutered after 4.5 years of age, the existence of an optimal age for neutering a Rottweiler dog remains to be established and may not exist for this breed. Nevertheless, veterinary clinicians are encouraged to keep in mind the well-established benefits of neutering when making recommendations to owners of Rottweiler dogs.

Surgical sterilization or neutering of dogs is a commonly performed procedure in veterinary practices in many countries. In recent decades, concerns have been raised regarding possible side effects of neutering, including increased risk of certain neoplastic, musculoskeletal and endocrinological con...

📢 I’m saying it again for the holdouts in the back, setting up your dog for success should be your primary training goal. For some reason, way back in the day, protection sports established a culture of setting dogs up to fail. ➡️💡What some don’t realize is it’s not about correcting or not correcting, it’s about the number of reps you set up to CAUSE failure. Setting up the parameters of the rep, YOU not the dog, create a likelihood of either success or failure. ⚖️Then the typical reaction is, “he’s trying to f #*k me over” or “he thinks he can get away with it.” Having this attitude immediately puts you into to the “aversive dominant” category, meaning you emphasis correcting the wrong behavior over rewarding the right behavior. Setting the dog up to fail 30/40/50/60 percent of the time is factually not as effective as the 85/15 percent ratio of success vs failure. A repetition that involves ANY correction (correction and direction are different things) would be considered failure. Just as you would consider it failure if your boss disciplined you, the dog does each time it happens to him. We would never dream to think this effective in the human version. A kind and proactive boss is more effective as a leader than the as***le. A positive childhood experience is more powerful than the threat of jail. We KNOW that rewarding the right behavior is so much more powerful than correcting the wrong behavio, so why so many holdouts? Every video showing stress behaviors while training using tools sets us further back in our fight to keep them 😰So please, be part of the solution to keep using tools and 1. Set your dog up for success, MOSTLY. 2. If you can’t use an ecollar or corrections without causing stress, go to chicken school and learn r+ and good timing more thoroughly first. 3. Most importantly, be better about observing stress signals in your dog and others because some of you aren’t seeing it and the videos are…not helping. 4. Join IACP, the organization doing the most to educate trainers and legislators. ok good talk 😆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
