Shaker's Acres Clay Classes are back in session!
We kicked off the new school year with Kinder Clay, reading the Three Billy Goats Gruff and building Clay trolls or giant fish from the story. Kinder students always make such unique projects!

Creative Clay was full of familiar faces, so we jumped in with a slab name sculpture that turned out fantastic! These Clay creations will fire up in the kiln and get glazed at the next class.

Next up... our new Clay class, Advanced Clay. This course will really focus on taking our Clay building skills to a new level, using more elaborate techniques and tools. This class is for focused, dedicated students ages 12+ (flexible, if mature). Please register soon, there are only a few spots left for this Tuesday. We will begin with learning about the various Clay working tools, like the slab roller, extruder, wheel, and the kiln. Our first project will be an extruded Box, complete with lid, fl**ge, handle, and feet. This class will offer plenty of room for independant Clay choices and personalization.

Farm School registration is available below. Unfortunately, early registration has filled the Thursday class, and there are just a few spots available in the Wednesday class. I know this is frustrating, as we do open registration to past students first, but please register onto the waitlist if you are interested, as you will be the first I reach out to if space opens. Public registration is not expected to stay open long.

New Farm School students are required to pay a $50 nonrefundable deposit at the time of registration (per student, per class), that will be applied to Session 1 registration fees. Full payment is due (for everyone) by August 1st.

As always, look for the confirmation email for payment and emergency form information.

Weather has been especially wonky this summer, so dates are very much subject to change, but we will always try our best to keep to the proposed schedule. Read the full Farm School event description for the list of yearlong dates.

A la carte classes- Kinder Clay and others - will be available for registration in the end of July. Look for some fun new offerings there!

Please reach out with any questions!

That's a wrap on US History Farm School! Students have been working on creating time capsules to record their own personal history. We celebrated with a special "sealing ceremony" after placing many special letters, photos, memories, hopes and dreams inside.
We also had fun with a Jeopardy style review.
Thank you for a fantastic year with your bright enthusiastic learners here at the farm!

It's hard to believe we have worked our way through U.S. history to a time that us teachers remember vividly.
When learning about tough topics in history, we try to focus on the way community members came together or average people displayed heroism.
We created origami peace cranes and hearts. This week was a reflection on our journey through history this school year and we put the finishing touches on our time capsules. We hope these will be a treasure for each of our Farm School families!
