It’s been a very heavy couple of weeks here at the farm. Many of our amazing herd has headed on to their final chapters. Goldwyn returned to the woman we bought him from 15+ years ago, and will spend his retirement days in a big field in sunny Ocala. Bella is retiring at a wonderful facility in the panhandle of Florida where they will take great care of her. Stella/Phoebe moved to the mountains of NC to retire - if you remember how itchy her skin was here in the south with the bugs and the humidity, I am confident she will feel much better in no time in her new home! Smoothie and the barn cats (thank you Jen!) returned to the LowCountry with our dear friend Shelby, who also has Lady. I put a lot of time and thought into honoring Sondra’s wishes and carefully selecting the best possible homes for them, but these were still incredibly difficult decisions to make. Every time an animal leaves this farm they take a piece of my heart with them, but it brings me comfort to know that they all landed in the best possible places and will continue to be so loved. I could go on forever about all the amazing things that these horses have done for us over the years, teaching so many young riders and earning so many blue ribbons along the way, but I think we all know just how special each of them are. Feel free to share a memory in the comments and join me in saying, to Goldie, Bella, Stella/Phoebe, Smoothie, and even Cheeto, Jersey and Bandido; thank you and happy retirement!🤍🕊️
