A photo dump from the wrap up of our eventing season at the end of October!

On 10/26 we competed at the Sip and Spur Horse Trials at Lost Acres Vineyard which was a unique venue. Sam scored a personal best in dressage and finished 2nd in the Starter division and Lindsay put together three good phases to finish 3rd in the Starter division. Avocet piloted Nirvana around her very first horse trial and we are so proud of the progress Nirvana is making in her confidence!

The next day we headed to Course Brook Farm for the end of season wrap up! Avocet rode Pal in the Beginner Novice, winning the dressage and adding just a handful of jumping penalties to finish in 5th. Truman came along and put a great test in at Beginner Novice, but unfortunately a swollen insect bite along his back led us to scratch him from the jumping phases; it was still a great experience for him to experience a new venue and hang out!

Looking forward to next season, ready to get to work on our winter homework!

A couple weekends ago we attended the final Connecticut Dressage & Combined Training Association (CDCTA) show of the season at Treasure Hill Farm. Emma did her very first Beginner Novice with Pal and had a nice dressage test and a very well ridden show jumping round to finish in 3rd place. Avocet took Nirvana to their first show together as a pair (and Nirvana’s first time jumping off property) and she was a star! Avocet did a fabulous job building her confidence and they finished the day in 7th in a large Pre-Elementary division.

Looking forward to the last couple of events of the season next weekend!

Horse friends: I’m going to be in the market very soon for an all aluminum 2+1 trailer (Sundowner, Featherlite, Adams, etc) if anyone knows of anything coming on the market soon! Hoping for a 2012 or newer.

This also means my 2008 Brenderup BaronL TC in excellent condition will be for sale in the very near future too. A dream to haul, the biggest model they make, tack compartment that flips up into a dressing room, solid floor, newer tires, etc. if anyone is interested!

We’ve had a busy couple of weekends kicking off the fall eventing season!

Last Saturday we attended Treasure Hill Farm’s last horse trial of the season. Emma and Pal had three lovely phases to finish in 3rd place in the Advanced Elementary. Lindsay and Blaze did their personal best dressage, had a lovely stadium, and a confident cross country round also in the Advanced Elementary. Avocet and Pal scored a personal best of 29 (71%) in dressage and had two fabulous jumping rounds in the Beginner Novice. Special shout-out to Emma who finished as Reserve Champion for the entire 2024 series in the Advanced Elementary dicision, your hard work has certainly paid off! Thank you to Treasure Hill for putting on a great show series.

Last Sunday was the Lyme Hunter Pace where assistant trainer Shannon and her horse, Stormy, and JCE owner Jamie and her horse, Truman, had a great ride, coming only 15 minutes over the optimum time. It was a beautiful day to spend a couple hours riding in the woods!

Lastly, we attended the horse trials at Azrael Acres this weekend. We had never been here before and it was an incredibly efficient and well run event with a super fun cross country course; we will definitely be back! Lindsay and Blaze put in a solid dressage test and a clear show jumping and have some good homework to take home for the cross country phase. Avocet and Pal did yet another personal best dressage, scoring a 28 (72%), riding a tactful show jumping (including a loose horse galloping though the area during her round!), and a super clear cross country round to take the win in the Beginner Novice division!

A great start to the fall eventing season, looking forward to the next few weekends!
