Get Ready for the 2024 AKC Trick Dog National Competition!

It’s Virtual!

You Could Win Best Trick Dog for Your Breed!
We are excited to announce the AKC Trick Dog National Competition for 2024.

All AKC Trick Dogs who have earned the Elite Performer title can enter the competition.

As long as their dogs have a Trick Dog title, Juniors may enter the competition at any level.

Because the competition is virtual (i.e., the judging will be done via video), trick dogs everywhere can participate.

How it works: Submit a video to AKC of your dog’s trick dog routine. The routine must be no longer than 6 minutes and may include props and music. The 6 minutes includes the time for moving props during the routine and performing the tricks. If you choose to give a speech at the beginning of your routine, this is counted in the 6 minutes.

You may use a new video, or a video previously submitted to AKC for review to earn your title. Videos that were entered in previous AKC Virtual Tricks competitions may not be submitted again.

As is the case with all Elite Performer routines, there must be a theme or story. For this virtual competition, an audience is not required.

If you have more than one great routine, you may submit up to two videos (per dog) to the competition.

When: To enter, submit your video between Thursday, August 1, 2024, and Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Three judges will judge the submissions and the winner will be announced in November 2024.

The winner and two semi-finalists of the 2024 AKC Trick Dog Competition will receive trophies.

There will also be breed prizes, qualifying rosettes, and a beautiful 2024 AKC National Trick Dog competition medal for every qualifying entry.

Entry forms will be posted August 1, 2024.

BeeBe is acting very dominant while Rita is being very submissive while BeeBe checks her out. Note BeeBe high tail carriage and stance…And then note how Rita is very submissive… sitting, head down at times… her body language.I think it’s really interesting to watch. They are friends, it’s like BeBe wants to let her know that she remains the queen bee😂

This is Neva (BeeBe x Nero Litter). She’“s in training for being a Life Find Dog... (Finding people). Right now, she is is learning Air Scenting... on land and water. The folks at the training center are blown away with her abilities! This dog was born to do this type of work and absolutely loves it. Anyone with a Lagotto should really consider doing “nose work” these dogs were made for such a thing. Note: she was started out on “birch oil” as a puppy. Iinterested in this type of work? LOVE getting video clips like this.... What a great job! Training starts the day you bring that new pup home. It used to be thought that dog training couldn’t start until the age of 6 months. I start training at 8 weeks. As soon as your puppy arrives at his new home…They are learning! Now is the time to teach him what you ‘want’ and ‘expect’ from him. How can he know if you don’t teach him. Puppies ARE capable of learning at any age. Start now and you can avoid behavioral problems from happening. You want to be a step ahead of their development. Puppy training is all about Managing your puppies behavior and preventing him from doing undesirable things. Remember to reward behaviors that you like.Sou

This puppy is eight weeks old and went to a fantastic puppy person… already getting her into the heel position. As I always say, these dogs need to be mentally stimulated, and as soon as you get them start training, they learn faster when they’re young, and they totally enjoy the mental aspect…. After all they want to please you need to show them how to please you😃

Grooming to help manage potential ear infections. Keeping the air-flowing will help!

People often ask me if the Lagotto is good at Agility or Hunting... Absolutely. This is a working breed... thinking breed. In fact, they love a job to do — even trick training! Any sort of “mental stimulation” is a must for this breed. VIDEO OF GIUSEPPE: Running the AKC 19 obstacle course. He's just over two and way ahead for his age. Really a great dog! You picked just the right one for me. And he's only 2 and doing the courses other dogs do from 4-6 years! He's just great. You get a lot of the credit!

Our Story

The Lagotto Lady lives in Lindström Minnesota, a small town nestled just north of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Our Lagotti are loyal family companions and working dogs.

Our dogs enrich our lives, in turn we give our dogs the best quality of life we can. No expense is spared when providing the proper environment in which they can thrive. Our dogs depend on us to make healthy choices for their care, to maintain their healthy lifestyle we regularly attend seminars, read books and spend countless hours researching. Most importantly, we surround ourselves with a great network of knowledgeable people.

At Lagotto Lady Kennels, we strive to breed the highest quality, best personality and healthiest Lagotti possible. Our dogs are subject to all the required genetic testing, and must pass all health clearances before they are considered part of our breeding program. We encourage genetic diversity of the breed and have imported many of our Lagotti from Europe and Canada.

On occasion, we have adult Lagotti we retire from our breeding program, and then begin the search for very special homes. If you are LOCAL please inquire. If you’re NOT local, please inquire and we will do our very best to refer you to a breeder friend in your area. We also have older puppies from time-to-time as well, which are available at full price, but retired adults are often for a reduced price.
