Best friends Al and Ed up for adoption together or they can go in a foster home. They are 2 year old bonded males. Al has a very rare cardiac disease and requires daily medication, so for these two we are also offering foster care vs a straight adoption. He will need some EKG’s down the road and his daily meds- but to look at him he’s a happy social and playful cat - both are so sweet.

They are so handsome and adorable and sweet! . They do deserve a loving home together!! Filling out an adoption application is always the first step. You can also call the shelter at 401-294-1115 with any questions. Currently, visits to the shelter are by appointment only for approved applications, so please fill out an application, then email it into us . Or, if you prefer, you can print it out on paper, fill it out, and drop it off. The manager will be in touch with you about an appointment for a visit, once your application has been approved. Adopted🎉🎉. Fresh off of spay surgery just a couple days ago, pretty Molly got her forever home today with Ryan and his family and we wish them so much love and happiness together 🐾❤️

Lots of donations- and the timing couldn’t be better with the large intake we just did. First picture is 2 seperate anonymous donations, then Lucy L.donated the Purina dry food, Sharon and Dick donated the bleach and wet and dry food, Fran and Jim donated the wet and dry Royal Canin mother and baby cat food, Claudia donated all the friskies treats, and Laura donated the assorted canned food varieties. Thank you all so much- we are very grateful and certainly in need of all of this 🐾❤️

Adopted🎉🎉. Well that sure was fast. Our beautiful calico, Precious, who we just posted yesterday, got her forever home today with Agnes. Agnes was looking for a companion after her husband passed (we are so sorry). Her daughters (one of which adopted from us in the past) are going to be backup caretakers to help with vet visit, etc, and they all were so excited for Agnes to take home Precious. Precious wants someone home full time and to love- and she’ll have all the attention from Agnes!! We wish them so much love and happiness together 🐾❤️

Up for adoption and going on petfinder. This is Bleu, a handsome 6 mos old male kitten, who is sweet and does head butts, and has the most beautiful eyes. A veryGood boy!! Wow! What a whirlwind of a Friday. It became a Christmastime miracle saving day! At noon we received a call from someone who was being evicted from their apartment in 3 days. They had 22 young cats and needed to find a place to give them shelter, love, and medical attention or they could have been set free in the cold or suffered an unknown fate. They called almost every rescue in the state and was told everyone was full. When they called Pet Refuge we were eager to help. We were lucky to have the space available due to our high adoption rates recently. Our team immediately dispatched in our van and drove 45 minutes each way to the apartment. The cats were collected (all 22) to bring back to our shelter facility. We are happy to report that all the cats, which included a mommy and five 8-week old kittens, are now in a supportive environment and are being well fed and taken care of. The cats are all very young and have received little to no veterinary care. Some of the females may be pregnant.

Now comes the great task of checking them, getting them their vaccines, and performing spay/neuter on each one to get them ready for adoption. These costs will be significant. On average the cost will be $220 per cat. We are looking to raise $6500 to cover these expenses, and that’s assuming they are all healthy. If any need additional veterinary care, the costs could go way up quickly.

Happy Tails from Renee and Bella (previously Tinkerbelle). She tells us “Bella was very shy and afraid when she came home with me in October but she has blossomed into the sweetest girl and is still changing every day. She does not line to cuddle much but we are working on that and she does sleep beside me now. She is funny and has so many cute quirks like stalking her evening treats and drinking with her paws. It's total kitty love!!

UPDATE Adopted 🎉🎉Up for adoption and going on petfinder this weekend. This is 5-6 year old Precious. She is a declawed calico female who had a home until her elderly owner passed away earlier this year, and the caretaker was highly allergic so Precious spent allot of time alone- and she didn’t like that and developed some behavioral issues with fear of abandonment. Precious is a needy and loving cat and wants an adult only home (children scare her) and someone who is home allot as she likes to follow her person and hang out and sleep with her person. She doesn’t like other pets, she wants to be the queen. She likes a clean litter box and isn’t fussy with food. Her ideal owner would be retired and able to spend time with her. Adopted🎉🎉. BOTH Jack and Mittens went home together with Gina and David today 🐾❤️🐾❤️. Gina told us how their 8 year old cat George suddenly passed from what was suspected to be a stroke, and how heartbroken they were💔. They knew they wanted at least one furbaby- and they picked 2 awesome adult cats (Jack is 4 and Mittens is 2) that have been hanging out free range together in room 3. We are thrilled!! We wish them so much love and happiness together and can’t It for updates- thank you Gina and David 🐾❤️🐾

Adopted🎉🎉. Adorable little Suede got his forever home with his daddy, Joey- who absolutely loves him and would visit him regularly when he was at the shelter. Look at the air biscuits Suede made while being held and kissed by his daddy🥰. Wishing them so much love and happiness together 🐾❤️

Thank you so much for the donations. First is all kinds of goodies from Cindy K. Look at all this pellet litter!!! We are so grateful- we ordered some litter ourselves because of the deal they were running before Christmas, and then had allot of donations!! In total- with what we ordered and donations- we picked up over 100 bags!! Some were from anonymous donors and some we know about, so we want to thank everyone!!! Oregon authorities say a house cat died after eating raw frozen pet food that tested positive for bird flu. The Oregon Department of Agriculture says the indoor cat contracted the H5N1 virus by eating the pet food. In response, Oregon-based pet food company Northwest Naturals has recalled one batch....
