NKASSF would like to extend a huge thanks to Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation for having our very own Sandy over for some love and attention last week! Sandy got to meet residents and other pups, received tasty pup cups, and even took pictures with Santa! 🎅 She had a blast!

She was even sent home with collected donations from residents and their families. 🥰 How generous! Thank you to the staff, volunteers, and residents for making her day and for providing treats, toys, and food to our other kiddos!

Hello! And welcome to ✨Resident of the Week!✨

We’d like to introduce you to Clutch! This little aussie sure is aus-some!!! 🙈

Clutch is a 7 and a half year old Australian shepherd who is ready for his second chance with a new home! Just as long as you can provide all the b***y scratches that Clutch requires. 😅

Clutch loves going on walks and hanging out with volunteers at NKASSF. 🥲 He’s a total sweetheart who has a lot of love to give! And with his thick, luscious coat, he’s already prepared for the long Rhode Island winter ahead! ❄️

Clutch would do best in a home without young children or cats. 🚫🐈👶 He has lived with other dogs though! At this time, we’re looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt situation. Clutch will be ready at the end of January, just in time for everyone to settle down after the holidays. 🎄✡️❄️

Resident of the Week *Thursday edition!*✨

Oreo has entered the chat! This handsome fella just might be the cat you’ve been looking for! 👀

Oreo is two years old, very sweet gentleman (sweet as his namesake!) who was surrendered by his previous owner. He settled into shelter life quite well, but we want him to settle into a new home soon! He is quite taken with one of our other cats, King, so we think he would be okay to live with other cats.

Oreo lets us hold and pet him; he’s a very gentle cat! Not to mention, very handsome! 😍 as a Tuxedo cat, he’s always dressed to impress! 😉

He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations! He’s ready to find his new home when that right person comes along. Let us know if you want to meet Oreo or know more about him! 🐾

🐾 Meet Jingles! Jingles is a young (just over a year and a half) feline resident of our shelter. He was quite withdrawn when he first arrived at the shelter but before long he was coming out of his shell and building bonds with shelter personnel. Jingles has not lived with other cats before but appears curious/friendly towards the other shelter cats. He has not lived with dogs or young children but he has met some kids since being at the shelter and he seems to enjoy spending time with them.
When meeting new people, Jingles is a bit shy at first, but don't let that fool you. Behind those initial moments of hesitation, there's a heart full of sweetness waiting to be discovered. His curiosity is as boundless as his affection, making every day an adventure. Jingles loves to explore, turning the simplest things into exciting discoveries. He's gentle, making him a wonderful companion for quiet evenings. His tender nature is a testament to his resilience and capacity to love. He's not just a cat, he's a friend waiting to share a lifetime of memories with you. Adopt Jingles and open your home to a world of love, warmth, and endless curiosity. Jingles is current on vaccinations and is scheduled to be neutered this week.

Thank you to all our supporters, volunteers, and furry friends for making our annual “Pet Photos with Santa” fundraiser the largest one since Covid! You may already know Dr. Dave as the best Veterinarian ever, but did you know he is one of the North Kingstown Animal Shelter’s biggest supporters? Not only does he provide the highest standard of care for our shelter animals; not only is he the personal Vet of about 90% of our volunteers and shelter alumni; but this man gives us his practice at no charge every year (more if we ask) right smack-dab in the middle of Wickford to facilitate any and all fundraisers. Today we raised a lot of money for the animals, and a huge reason we were able to do that is because we never have to pay for venue space for our pet photos, bake sale, raffle, and crafts.
Thank you Dr. Dave.
Thank you on behalf of Santa, the Grinch, all their elves and minions, the animals of North Kingstown, the North Kingstown Animal Shelter Support Foundation, and everyone who got a great picture today! We truly appreciate you.

I would like to crop some of the out-takes so they are post-worthy as well. Anyone who came and left with a printed, framed copy will also be able to save/share right from here when I upload them. I like to post 3-4 of each animal/group including the one we printed, another good one that maybe just missed the print-worthy mark, and one really bad one. Think mid-bark or in the process of head butting Santa.

Thank you again to everyone who made today possible. Everyone who held down the shelter so volunteers could staff the event, the fundraising committee, everyone who baked for the bake sale, everyone who donated for the raffles, everyone who came and supported the animals of the NK shelter, and Dr. David Bergmann of The Village Veterinary Center!

Feeling extra thankful this Thursday for our friends at Hamilton Elementary School here in North Kingstown. 🤗

We want to give a HUGE thanks to the kiddos and their families for their generous donations to the shelter! We couldn’t do what we do without your contributions. 💖

With all of these awesome supplies, our cats and dogs will be eating well and have plenty of fun, new toys to play with! 🐱🐶🦴🎾

We love this community and are so glad to share our work with all of you!

✨Resident of the Week!!!✨

This week’s resident is quirky, noodly, wiggly, and full of life! Meet Sandy, a 2 year old, 20lb pup who’s been with us since early summer.

You can often find Sandy waiting eagerly to play fetch or tug🎾, rolling around in the grass, or searching 🔎 for hidden treats she can crunch and munch on! This girl gives all her love to anyone she meets, and boy does she have a lot to give! 💖🥰

Sandy has a lot of energy and could use a human who can let her run around or take her for adventures! Once she gets her energy out, she settles down well. 😴

She has had positive interactions with other dogs and would require a meet and greet with any existing doggos to make sure it’s a good fit! We aren’t totally sure how she would do with cats, she might want to play too hard with them. 😬

This Thanksgiving, we’re so grateful for our amazing community. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to care for and find homes for many special animals this year.

We’re especially thankful for the furry shelter residents who fill our days with wagging tails, purrs, and endless love. They remind us why we do what we do and inspire us every day.

To everyone who has adopted, donated, volunteered, or just cheered us on—thank you for making a difference in their lives. You’re helping us create second chances for these deserving animals.
