Do you QT your fish?
At ReefBreeders, we always recommend quarantining all new fish before adding them to your display tank.
It is one of the best ways to protect your reef.
If you are using medications during quarantine, like Metronidazole or Fenbendazole, here is something most people do not realize:
Metronidazole is only partially water-soluble.
Fenbendazole is barely soluble at all.
When you add them straight to the water, a lot of it just sinks or stays undissolved. That means your treatment might not be as effective as you think.
Helpful tip
Using a small amount of pharmaceutical grade DMSO can help fully dissolve these medications and improve how well they work.
It needs to be used carefully because DMSO is very strong and must be handled with respect.
At the end of the day, healthy fish lead to healthy reefs.
A little extra effort now can save you a lot of trouble later.
