Aliante Animal Hospital will be open today from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We will be closed on Christmas Day. On New Year’s Eve, we will be open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and on New Year’s Day, we will be open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Thank you! 🐾

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Jay has joined the Aliante Animal Hospital team!

Dr. Jay is a passionate veterinarian with a unique background that has shaped his love for animals and dedication to their care. Born in the United States to a family with roots in Punjab, India, Dr. Jay's journey in veterinary medicine began early in life.

Growing up as an equestrian, Dr. Jay developed a deep bond with horses, which he credits as a significant influence on his career choice. His childhood home was filled with the companionship of golden retrievers and a French bulldog.

His commitment to animal welfare deepened as he volunteered for a veterinary non-governmental organization (NGO), helping stray animals and participating in spay and neuter programs.

Dr. Jay graduated in May 2023 from Punjab with a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. After passing the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE), he continued to volunteer at the NGO, demonstrating his dedication to giving back to the community.

New to Las Vegas, Dr. Jay is enthusiastic about exploring the city's diverse offerings. An avid golfer, he's particularly excited to discover the area's scenic golf courses. Additionally, he looks forward to hiking, visiting museums, and building a social life while focusing on his professional goals of being an excellent veterinarian, helping animals in need, and working in a successful environment.

Dr. Jay is motivated by his family to work hard and give back, striving to be both a good professional and a caring individual. His diverse background, coupled with his passion for animal care, makes him a valuable addition to the veterinary team at Aliante Animal Hospital.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Jay and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our patients and community!

Welcome to our newest extern, Grace!

Grace, originally from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at a young age. While her kindergarten dream was to be a princess, by first grade she had set her sights on becoming a veterinarian—a goal she has pursued ever since.

Her first hands-on experience came at age nine when she began helping a friend train dogs on an agility course at the local animal hospital. This four-year summer commitment solidified her love for working with animals. However, it wasn’t until her undergraduate years at the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, that Grace truly believed she could pursue veterinary medicine as a career. The turning point came when she rescued some possums and took them to a wildlife rehabilitation facility where she was working.

Grace is currently attending Ross University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, with an expected graduation date of May 2025.

During this externship, Grace is eager to gain hands-on experience in real-world scenarios. Although not her first time in Las Vegas, she’s looking forward to hiking at Mt. Zion with her family.

In her spare time, Grace enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with her four pets: two dogs, Tiramisu and Mango who is partially blind and deaf, and two cats, Echo and Jasmine. She also enjoys bird watching.

As someone who is hard of hearing, Grace brings a unique perspective to veterinary medicine. She aims to challenge stereotypes about people with disabilities in the veterinary field and hopes to serve as a role model. Grace is committed to showing clients that individuals with disabilities can excel in caring for their pets, and she encourages others to pursue their dreams regardless of the challenges they may face.

To help reduce the number of lost dogs and cats, Las Vegas is implementing a new ordinance. Starting August 1, 2024, it will be mandatory for all cats and dogs aged four months and older to be microchipped. With August just around the corner, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with us to ensure your pet's safety through microchipping.

Introducing our newest extern, Xavier!

Xavier, originally from San Francisco but raised in Las Vegas, developed a passion for animals at a young age. His childhood cats, sparked a desire to become a vet and fulfill his dream of having as many pets as he wanted - a dream he's cherished since kindergarten.

During his late high school and early undergraduate years, Xavier volunteered at the Hearts Alive Village animal shelter and worked at an animal hospital in Henderson. His commitment to veterinary medicine was solidified during a trip to the Philippines. He encountered a dog named Princess, plagued by ticks and health complications. Alongside his uncle, who had veterinary training, they devoted hours to nursing Princess back to health. This experience further reinforced his dedication to veterinary medicine.

Xavier pursued his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2022. He is currently studying at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with an expected graduation of 2026.

He has served as a UC Davis student representative for Aliante Animal Hospital as well as our sister hospitals, Craig Road Animal Hospital, and Lone Mountain Animal Hospital.

During this externship, he is eager to gain hands-on experience and shadow the doctors.

When he's not immersed in his studies, Xavier enjoys an active lifestyle, playing tennis and pickleball with friends. He also enjoys playing video games, board games, and spending time with his two cats, Mittens and Turtle, and a Pomeranian named Pork Chop.

As the temperatures continue to climb, we want to remind all pet owners about the importance of safeguarding your pets from the intense heat. ☀️

Unlike us humans, our beloved pets cannot shed their fur or always seek out cooler locations when the temperature rises. Moreover, they do not perspire in the same way we do, making it harder for them to regulate their body temperature. This can lead to a dangerous condition known as heatstroke.

To aid you in protecting your pets, here is an infographic that offers information on how to recognize signs of heatstroke in your pet, prevention strategies, and the necessary actions to take if your pet shows symptoms of heatstroke.✅

Congratulations to VTIT Sarah for her acceptance into veterinary school! Sarah will be attending Ross University this fall and is thrilled about the opportunity.

Here are a few words from her:
"I am eager to learn new things. A year and a few months ago, I started at Aliante Animal Hospital and was excited about the learning opportunities.

Now, as I prepare to start at Ross University in the fall, I feel the same anticipation, especially as I'll be in a new environment and culture overseas. I admit I'm nervous about being in a different country, as I've never studied abroad, but I'm also excited for the experience it will provide. The anticipated workload is daunting, but thankfully, I have Dr. Baez, a Ross alumnus, to guide me through everything. I have felt supported by not only him, but all those around me which is helping me mentally prepare.

I will definitely miss all of my coworkers and the doctors, and all they have taught me within Aliante Animal Hospital.”
