It's been a while since our last post and we've been meaning to get an update, but we have been super busy responding to wildlife calls and taking care of animals. We are back at it and available!

Due to health issues, Semper Fi Rescue will be unavailable until further notice.

Unfortunately, injuries from the military and other health issues will not allow me to keep the pace that we have been running. I am beyond thankful for everyone that I have met and the opportunity to help so many animals while running our rescue. I really hope that in the future I will be able to come back at some point and continue doing what I love. In the meantime, I am happy to refer people to a rehabber or rescue that can assist them.

I sincerely appreciate all the love and support everyone has shown us.

Late post, but July 4th was interesting. We had our camp set up on the sandbar to watch fireworks and camp out for the holiday. This Canadian goose flew up to our campsite and sat just on the outside of our camp. We decided to go check it out and to my surprise it let me walk up to it. That's when we noticed both feet were tangled up in fishing line. This goose not only let me pick it up, but let me lay it on its back, and patiently waited as I got all the fishing line off it's legs, didn't resist in any way the entire time. Afterwards I set it back where I got it. It was a really cool experience.

Picked up this cute little stinker and 3 of its siblings today. They're so sweet!

Picked up this turtle from Torvi Alexi Winters with Wildlife Matters and released it today. It’s a really good feeling being able to release an animal back into the wild

We got this baby deer today. It had a head injury, shattered front leg, and other injuries . We contacted Arkansas Game and Fish where it was determined that the injuries was too much and it was humanely put down. We love all wildlife and try to help when we are able, but sometimes we get animals that are just too sick or injured.

We rescued a Great Blue Heron fledgling yesterday at the Clinton library and got it to our good friend Torvi Alexi Winters at Wildlife Matters.

Did you know that fully grown a Great Blue Heron will stand about 3 feet tall and have a wingspan around 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 feet across?
They will live for about 15 years, with the oldest on record being at least 24 1/2 years old.

The Great Blue Heron will wade and stand in water with their long legs, waiting for prey to come within striking distance. Once they have spotted a potential meal, they will stretch their long necks out, and using their spear like beak, catch their prey. Their necks will also stretch up to 3 times its length to help them catch prey.
