Shout out to Hatchet Jack's Sport Shop for hooking me up with this net. I’ve had my eye on it for a good minute to use on rescue calls, when the need arises. May get to put it to use tomorrow morning when I go pick up an injured Canadian Goose. Also…Canadian geese are nature’s reminder that not all Canadians are nice!

Have you ever seen a 50 pound bag of carrots? I haven’t either until today! A HUGE thank you to Janet N Lee Wiedower for her donation to Semper Fi Rescue. Donations like this help out not only Semper Fi Rescue, but other wildlife rescues and wildlife rehabs to feed displaced, sick, injured, and orphaned animals while we nurse them back to health and make sure they are ready to be returned to the wild, where they belong. Starting April 1st we will be selling raffle tickets for this framed Taylor Swift photo. it is a quick sign signature, not an actual autograph, but it’s still a pretty cool piece. Tickets are $3 each or $20 for 10. The drawing will take place and winner will be announced April 30th. All proceeds will go to Semper Fi Rescue.

Royce Abbott from Royce Abbott's Excavation hooked me up with this hollowed out log. I split it and scraped out all the soft dead wood inside. I’m going to put it back together to use in one of our enclosures for the animals. Royce has been a good friend of mine for a long time and has been a big supporter of me and Semper Fi Rescue since day 1. All my Facebook friends and family in Arkansas. Do you have any produce that’s been sitting for a while and you’re thinking about throwing out?

People like myself at Semper Fi Rescue as well as other wildlife rehabs are always looking for fruits and vegetables for the wildlife we care for. As you know, springtime is here, and spring/summer season is baby season for Arkansas wildlife. We are in no short supply of baby animals that have been displaced, injured, or orphaned, as well as adults animals that become sick, injured, or displaced. These animals require a lot of care before they can be reintroduced back into the wild, and we go through a lot of fruits and vegetables feeding them and getting them ready to release. Instead of throwing out your unwanted fruits and vegetables, a simple kind act of containing me, and donating your unwanted produce goes a long way and not only helps save the lives of Arkansas’s
Wildlife, but helps our wildlife rescues and wildlife rehabs get Arkansas’s wildlife nursed back to health and returned to the wild where they belong.

Today has been a day for adoptions. We was able to rehome all of our rescues up for adoption! A huge thanks to every that reached out and decided to give these amazing animals a forever home!

Feeding a groundhog with a baby squirrel.

Did you know that groundhogs, also known as woodchucks, whistle-pig, and land beaver, are rodents that are related to squirrels, chipmunks, and prairie dogs are the largest species in the squirrel family. They are also capable climbers and swimmers when they need to escape predators. Also, research on groundhogs proved that Hepatitis B causes liver cancer.

Ladies and gents. Spring time is the season for baby animals. If you come across a baby animal you think is in need of rescue, contact your local rescue or wildlife rehab to make sure the baby animal or animals are indeed in need of rescue. In many cases the babies are just waiting for mama to come back and get them. If the animals is in need of rescue, please place the animals in a box with a blanket or towel and keep them warm. Also, do not attempt to feed them, giving them baby formula or milk cand do more harm than good in a lot of cases. With this storm blowing through the state, babies can be displaced or separated from their mother. There are some amazing people in this state with a passion for care of Arkansas’s wildlife. Do your part by contacting your local wildlife rescue before taking matters into your own hands.

Semper Fi Rescue picked up 3 baby opossums those evening. These 3 little ones we to wildlife rehabilitator Torvi Alexi Winters. This lady has the magic touch when it comes to animals. It’s always pleasure to work with her.
