Getting back on track with visits to my bestie, It's Meagan Roo, I Need A Mama Too!

Meagan Roo is the longest resident foster of Kind Keeper No-Kill Animal Rescue. I befriended her early this year and we’ve shared lots of memories over the months. Since then, her circle of friends has grown and I love to see her not only getting more lovin’ but gaining more life experience!

Meagan Roo has trust challenges. She does not interact well with other animals but with proper introductions, she has been growing in new hooman social experiences.

A little romp’n’roll in one of our favorite neighborhood front lawns featuring the one and only, Kyra!

While her dad is hard at work, sometimes six days a week to provide the best life Kyra can have, I think about how just a half hour of my day changes her whole life. 🤗

Let’s give a big Sunday shoutout to all of the pawrents out there who work hard to give their pets the best and won’t settle for less! 👏🏻

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of our furiend Aston’s crossing of the rainbow bridge. Aston was quirky - a little awkward, a little mischievous and regularly ate things she shouldn’t. She loved her sisters and hoomans and always greeted me with a wet kiss.

Aston, Annabell & Macie were my very first regular dog walking clients. I haven’t seen them in quite some time and when their mama shared the news it was a shot to the heart. I’m so honored to form the bonds that I have with the pets that I care for but this will always be the hardest part of the job. My condolences and a sincere thank you to Aston’s family - for trusting in me, believing in me and supporting Poppins Pet Care from the very beginning. Aston’s sweet spirit will be deeply missed. 💖

Wrapped up a quick 2-night slumber pawty with my furiends Sophie, Momo and Winston! We saw great growth in comparison to our first slumber pawty earlier this year. Momo was always pretty confident and cool (as cats often are) but Winston and Sophie have each learned to trust me and welcome me into their daily routines. They’re a fun bunch! 🥰🤗❤️

A heartfelt note from Madison…

I’d like to express my gratitude to my valued clients. Since the start of Poppins Pet Care, I have done my absolute best to invest in my business and to implement practices and procedures that allow each day to run efficiently. I am coming to realize that an important part of growth, and one that I struggle to accept, is making mistakes.

This week, I uncovered a scheduling snafu on a very important weekend next month that could potentially affect services for multiple clients. The last thing I want to do is let a client or potential client down. I value my reputation immensely and strive to uphold the standards and expectations that you are accustomed to. I have always chosen honesty and accountability, especially so when my mistakes affect others. In doing so, I have been truly blessed to be met with grace and understanding and for that, I am sincerely grateful.

Thank you for affording me grace, flexibility and allowing me to continue to grow as an entrepreneur and as an individual.

Ma is in the kitchen working off of her family recipes for everything from fresh, cold deli salads to heat and eat meals. Tell ‘em we sent ya! 💚🤍❤️

Let’s this Monday & spread the warmth from the beach to the mountains!

Hurricane Helene. A “100 year flood.” The images and stories out of Western North Carolina and elsewhere are gut-wrenching. In the wake of this catastrophe, my heart has been heavy and humbled.

Upon graduation from University, many of my friends moved to Asheville for the trendy culinary scene and eclectic vibes. I have lived in The Grand Strand for almost 6 years now and dreamt of visiting the mountains. I hear stories of not just the Biltmore and Asheville, but the small towns like Hot Springs, Maggie Valley, Chimney Rock & Lake Lure. Something always kept me from committing to a visit until last month when I finally booked a trip for the first weekend of December.

Weeks later, my trip has been canceled and I have been humbly reminded in more ways than one that life is short. What we do with our time matters and like many, I feel called to take action and make the most of the resources I have to offer. I will be donating directly to the staff at the venue of the concert I planned to attend while on my visit to Asheville. They could have never predicted this and need all the help they can get right now.

In addition, one of my valued clients had to cancel their slumber pawty staycation booking as they were also headed to enjoy Asheville. If you are a member of The Poppins Pack, you know that a cancellation does incur a fee in the form of a forfeited deposit. I have chosen to pay this client’s deposit forward and purchase a dozen blankets, as requested by a local contact, Jason Black, who sprung into action when opportunity arose and has been tirelessly making runs to and from The Grand Strand and WNC.

With even colder weather approaching, this is a universal need that is simple to meet. If you feel moved to contribute blankets or money to purchase blankets, please reach out to me directly. Thank you!

Joy and Gilly are currently in foster care with our furiends, Remedy and Darcy. We love watching puppies grow, explore and learn how to interact and engage with the world around them. 🤗

Kyra girl LOVES when her Dad leaves the window open so she can look out and enjoy the fresh, cool air. You know us… just living our best lives! 🥰

Harlow and Charlotte are always sure to remind me when it’s time for a lil’ treat. 🥰

Bogey, one of the more advanced puzzle solvers of The Poppins Pack, has definitely met his match with this one! The Dog Twister is a Level 3 puzzle from Nina Ottoson by Outward Hound and it requires the dog to learn sequential steps as well as involves new mechanisms not seen in previous levels. I have a feeling we’ll be working on this one for a while. Leave a comment to cheer Bogey on!
