Meet The Grey Gatsby, available for Adoption through FUR Animal Rescue!
Rescue Date: January 17, 2025
We rescued Gatsby from the city shelter. He was brought in as a stray after being found sitting on the side of the highway in the middle of winter. 😭 A Good Samaritan took him to the shelter, where we scooped him up and promised to get him all better.
Gatsby had a long road to recovery ahead of him. He was very malnourished, dehydrated and infested with intestinal parasites, fleas, and ear mites. He had frostbite on his paw pads and ears and had gone without proper care, quality food, or hydration for a very long, long time.
Gatsby took time to acclimate. Cats like him usually crash hard that first week. Once they see there's food, water, and a safe spot to lay, they crash HARD. Gatsby slept almost straight for a week, with brief intervals to eat and take meds.
Gatsby was absolutely filthy, and his poor condition led to diarrhea, which caused him to become an overall mess. Despite constant cleaning, he and his suite smelled for two weeks straight. Getting him physically and mentally well, took time. Lots of hand baths, extra cleaning and TLC to do for him, what he was too sick and exhausted to do himself.
However, slowly, Gatsby started to feel better and regain energy. He began seeking affection and bonding with us. Finally, one day, he started playing with toys! He transformed before our very eyes, and we love every bit of it. The meds worked, the rest worked and best of all - the love worked 🥰🙏
Gatsby has blossomed into a gentleman full of gratitude and love. He asks for so very little.. His toes are still healing, but other than that - he's so ready to find a loving home to settle into and become a part of. We can't wait to see who gets this awesome boy!
FAMILY GOALS:
While it's often said that cats thrive with feline companionship, Gatsby proves that's not always the case. This charming cat prefers being the only feline in the household, not because he dislikes other cats, but because he values his personal space.
Gatsby has a special affinity for dogs, particularly those that are cat-friendly. His past experiences with canines must have left him eager for their company, because he becomes super excited whenever dogs visit. It's super cute!
If you're a family seeking a single, loving cat to join your household, Gatsby might be the ideal companion. He'll bring joy and affection to your life, and his unique personality will make him a cherished member of your family. Silly, loving, low maintenance and absolutely wonderful - inside and out. ❤️
We are happy to answer any questions you may have, so ask away!
