Every now and then an EXTRA EXTRA special cat comes along and sparks a d extra special love inside of all of us. Today, we introduce you to that super special cat... His name, is Tig. :)
Tig showed up at a house in town and began eating the provided food. Every night, he'd show up for food and nestle into a small cat bed. He'd run from the human but loved other cats. His caretaker wanted more for him so reached out to me and ultimately Tig ended up at the city shelter. He was posted on LOST PAWS for several weeks and then for the three days at the shelter. While there, he wouldn't allow staff to check his gender or interact with him. No one claimed him, so we pulled him for Rescue and hoped to figure out just who Tig was and what he wanted in a dream life. We knew it was much more than a bit of food and shivering cold every night, and the angel who helped him find safety knew that, too.
Tig arrived at the FURcility on November 12. He was already neutered, which meant at one point, his family had cared. We don't know where they went or why, if only he'd been microchipped :(
He didn't have an ear tip, which means he at one point - was a friendly cat. The first few days, he was less than friendly. He was scared, frustrated and outwardly angry.
We allowed Tig to just decompress. He had a suite with everything he needed to show him he was safe, loved and could be whoever he wanted to be. He could just be Tig.
Slowly, Tig began to come around! He loved being petted with the scratcher and would allow it for a long time. We began to sneak in hand pets and he loved that too, except if he caught you. Then his trauma returned and he would scoot off.
Tig was allowed to free roam and meet the other FURcility cats, which he loved. It helped him relax and really begin to enjoy just being a normal cat.
He began to play! Which we love! Letting his guard down and enjoying life... It's such an amazing sight to see. Happiness. Joy. Trust. Contentment.
Tig today is a special guy. He isn't incredibly impressed with humans, but each day does better and better at allowing them in. Tig really has no desire at this time for human affection. His day consists of eating a yummy meal, hanging with cat friends, exploring around, playing a little and taking long naps. He asks for so little of us. He's just happy to finally be able to just BE TIG. And so that's what we're going with - a home that will adopt Tig, and just let Tig BE TIG. It's so so easy. You provide the home and food and love and Tig, will just be. β€οΈ
Tig is excellent with other cats and will get along with just about anyone, but another sweet laid back submissive cat is ideal. He hasn't a mean bone in his body and won't likely stand up to a bully cat to balance it. Tig would do best with another cat, since he will be slow to let humans in.
Tig can be dog tested.
Tig will do best in an adult only home as most kids want cats to play with and snuggle with. Kid visitors or older kiddos are just fine. Tig currently has 20+ people who care for him over a weeks time. He has yet to bond to any of us, but he does interact. I expect him to bond deeply to his family and with time and trust - become that affectionate cat I just know is in there. But it shouldn't be pushed or rushed, he should just be adored and cared for and allowed to JUST BE TIG. β€οΈ
If you're looking for a cat to love with no expectations, Tig may be just the one for you. β€οΈ
