If you know anything about our owner, you know that the Cane Corso breed is near and dear to our hearts. In fact, our logo icon is a Corso silhouette. We are super excited to be adding this magnificent beast to our family. Bronx is all the way from Serbia and weighs around 120 lbs. He’s one of the best-tempered members of his breed that we have encountered. We are excited to get to know and care for this big boy.
Just wrapped up the Crocker Bark 2024! Got to catch up with some old clients whose dogs have passed, meet with current clients, and even connect with potential new clients. It was great to chat with our favorite Westlake Police Officer, Sgt. Pischel, and hear how his pup is doing. We handed out a bunch of stickers to kids and said hello to lots of puppies. We are excited to introduce Miss Shadow as the newest member of The Doggie Concierge family! She is a Belgian Malinois puppy and an absolute sweetheart. Shadow was rescued from a kill shelter and is getting used to her new life in the Land. We believe she will adapt well and fit right in!
PSA for Owners of Dogs with Short Noses in Hot Weather. If you own a dog with a short or snub nose, you are well aware that breathing can pose a challenge for them. As the temperature rises, these dogs have a harder time cooling off than other breeds and can quickly suffer from heat-related ailments. To help your pup stay safe and healthy during hot weather, always ensure that they have access to cool but not cold water, and avoid giving them ice. When the temperature reaches 80 degrees or higher, avoid keeping them outside for more than 15 minutes at a time. Provide a cool place for them to retreat to where the temperature is 70 degrees or lower. Consider setting up a tower fan on low or medium where your dog can relax and cool down. Your furry friend will surely appreciate it!

Many times pet parents cease dog walkers and daycare during maternity leave. However, this is a time in the dogs life where you should ramp up walks or daycare. Your focus is on the little one and your recovery as it should be and dogs get put on the back burner. Keeping things as normal and consistent with the dog's schedule will help to minimize nuisance and codependent behaviors when your focus can’t include the dog.
Saying goodbye to our beloved client dogs, who passed away too soon, is always difficult. It feels like we’ve lost too many furry friends already in 2024. Blitzen, a 6-month-old hound mix rescue pup, is going home today. When he arrived his parents were almost ready to give him up. Blitzen had some problematic behaviors such as being mouthy, jumpy, hyperactive, and not listening. To address these issues, we trained him to respond to both desirable and undesirable behaviors on cue. This helped us communicate to Blitzen what we wanted from him and to only offer the behavior when asked. As a result, he now only bites his rope toy and not humans. We also taught him to relax on the couch calmly while events happened around him. Before he leaves, we will provide his new owners with instructions and schedule a follow-up home visit. We did all this without the use of pain, force, fear, or intimidation.

I have been using my car for almost as long as I have been running my business. It can be argued that I spend almost as much time in it as I do in my house, driving around 300-400 miles every week. I have even had breakfast daily in this car, usually consisting of coffee and a cigar. I have transported dogs with and without seat protectors. Needless to say, my car was disgusting. Finally, I decided to get the car deep cleaned as it was long overdue. I prefer to support small businesses, so I went to 2B Clean in North Ridgeville. The price was more than reasonable, the communication was exceptional, and the finished product exceeded my expectations. You couldn’t even tell that the car had years of abuse from pet dander, dirt, and ni****ne tar. I will definitely become a regular client of 2B Clean and recommend this amazing local service to all my clients!

Today, we had to say goodbye to one of our longest-standing clients, Babe. She had been with us through thick and thin, and we had grown to love her like family. Babe was a true people-lover and enjoyed going for walks. However, she would refuse to leave the porch if she thought there might be thunder or any other loud noises. She also happened to be one of the most dog-reactive pups we had; she would flop like a fish on dry land until we got far enough away. On walks, she would often find random things to consume, such as peanut shells and hatched bird eggs. One time she found a whole fish in the snow, a mile away from the lake. She always expected two cookies at the end of each walk, and if you parked near her house, you had better be ready to start the walk, or she would bark the entire time until you opened her door. Saying goodbye to her was one of the toughest goodbyes we have had to make as a staff. I know she will greet us all on the other side of the pearly gates one day. Rest in peace, Babe.

We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved “Toto” dog, Carrie, has passed away. Carrie was our first experience with Cairn Terriers and was a super s***ky and intelligent pup with a high prey drive. Unfortunately, she recently lost some of her s***k and was diagnosed with cancer. She had to be put down as a result of her illness. We take comfort in knowing that she is now chasing squirrels on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
