Seven NFL seasons with Drako. He was just a puppy when he arrived in Cleveland. I’ve been part of his life for almost a decade with seven hellos and seven farewells. This time I dropped him off for transport pick-up, and it hit different. I told him Uncle Mike loved him and that I would see him later…this is the look he gave me like he knew it was the end of a season. The NFL is a business; to have one pup this long is not the norm, and there are no next-year guarantees. I hope, with all my heart, to get another with him. In this industry, clients often become like family. 🤞🤞🤞

2024 was a year of endings and new beginnings. We said farewell, but we also said hello. Goals were set, and goals were accomplished. Now we dream of next and the future. Most importantly, we wouldn’t be here without all our fur friends and their pet parents! Thank you, and we love you!

Does your dog pant, pace, and get easily overstimulated in public? Do they refuse treats or fail to respond to basic obedience commands? Many dogs show signs of anxiety when outside, but many pet parents still want to enjoy outings with their dogs. One effective way to help desensitize your dog to public environments is to choose a contained location during low-traffic hours on a weekday. Find a quiet corner, have a seat, and demonstrate relaxation for your dog. Occasionally, scatter treats in front of their feet to mimic the calming behavior of sniffing. Continue this routine and gradually start introducing more stimulating environments, allowing your pup to indicate when they are ready to progress.

No one captures the personality of dogs in photos better than Greg. I wanted high-quality photos for a special project I was working on, and he did not disappoint. I have a shoot coming up in January with him for our Puppy Academy, and if the photos turn out anything like these, it’s going to be 🔥!

This Christmas, we've been filling our stocking 🎅 with Golden Retrievers! Help us welcome Skye to our Doggie Concierge family! She comes to us with some people boundary issues—she's just too friendly and loves too much and too hard 😆. We are going to teach her proper manners and human social cues. Although we would secretly enjoy having her sit in our lap, we would play it cool. 😉😂🤣😅

Don’t be afraid to go back to kindergarten! Sadie, 6 months, is doing great offering her commands and behaviors in a controlled environment. However, in public, when the stimulation level is up, she struggles to focus. Rather than getting frustrated, we go back to the most basic form of all commands and work on reliability—getting attention, a sit, and we pay her heavily in turkey dogs 🌭 and cheese 🧀 ! This keeps her engaged and when live to practice and progress another day.

If your dog is a door bolter, doesn’t understand personal space, jumps on people, counter surfs, or you simply don’t want them on your furniture, teaching the place command is essential. Simba has problems with all of the above, so we introduced him to a place board and the place command. Not too shabby for his first session.

Join us in giving a warm welcome to Benny, the newest member of our family! Last year, our wonderful clients experienced the heartbreaking loss of their senior pup. Thankfully, we were able to connect them with Safe Harbor Animal Rescue, and when the time was right, they met Benny—a charming 2-year-old Mini Sheepadoodle who stole their hearts! We couldn’t be more thrilled for our clients and excited to have Benny join our Doggie Concierge family. Let the adventures begin!

Dogs are truly remarkable creatures. While they’re usually friendly companions, they sometimes remind us of their incredible strength and the importance of respecting them. Tonight, I had an experience boarding an XL Bully! In a fit of determination, he decided to take on a healthy Japanese maple tree in my backyard, dismantling it with glee. Those 2-4 inch thick branches didn’t stand a chance as he proudly dragged them around the yard. It took a good deal of effort to redirect him, and ultimately, we ended up having to say goodbye to the whole tree. What’s the takeaway? Love your dogs, but always remember to give them the respect they deserve!

The people have spoken: Dogs 2024! We are excited to introduce two adorable newcomers joining our Doggie Concierge Family for their first term. Cannoli is a two-year-old Bernedoodle, and Caymus is a three-and-a-half-month-old Rough Coat Collie.

Remember, regardless of the direction the country decides to take tomorrow and which side of the decision you may be on, all people can suck sometimes, but dogs never do! This is my 6-month-old board and train pup, Sadie, snuggling on the couch under a blanket with her newly claimed toy. She will still be cute and loving on Wednesday, the following day, and every day after that. Adopt a pup; they are great for your mental health!
